I am very sorry for your loss.
All 3 of my dogs are rescues and the most wonderful dogs. Okay Rags is a bit bossy, but we love her. Contact your local rescue: You can find the info here: http://www.oes.org/html/oes_rescue.shtml You can also check www.petfinder.com Good Luck with your search. |
thanks for the advice.I've contacted a rescue in ill. but they have none at the moment . But right now its just such fun finding so many other pet parents who are so crazy about oes. Once you have one you are hooked for life.
thanks kay |

thanks kay Kay, the closest rescue to you I can think of that probably has several dogs available is Nita/Indiana Midwest Rescue. Failing that, I think Nancy/Minnesota Rescue may have a young male. Good luck and welcome to the forum!! Kristine WI OES Rescue |

Hi Kay,
I am so sorry for your loss of Cordell. Thank you for thinking about a rescue dog. You may certainly apply to more than one rescue organization! |
I'm so sorry that you lost your sheepie.
The Midwest OES Rescue gals are great. If your interested in adopting a homeless sheepie, filling out an adoption application is usually the first step. It will help the rescue match an OES to your lifestyle and family requirements. Nita: Midwest OES Rescue- Indiana- http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/IN352.html Nancy: Midwest OES Rescue- Minnesota- http://www.oesusa.com/MidwestOESRescue/ ... cation.htm Good luck to you with your search. Please let us know when you've found your match! |
Hi,
Thanks so much for your kind words and advice. I talked to Nancy yesterday. Its like I knew her forever. I was having problems with getting my application to her. So this morning I applied to Nita and got that application thru. Nancy and Nita talk so I figured they would do whatever is necessary. I also by mistake applied to New England oes rescue.Should not get on the computer before I've had my multi shots of caffene. Oh, well, it would be a long ride but to fill this empty place in my heart, its worth it. Just kidding about New England.Oh, by the way, I know I will probably have some behavior problems in the beginning. As I told Nancy Agatha, my 2nd sheepdog ate a hole in the wall to get at the central vaccuming so I plan on being busy for a while and thats just what I need to heal and hey is obedience school is in the future so be it. I've done it before and am more than willing to do it again. Love those bobtails.Big noses, big bear butts and even better big big hearts Thanks kay |
Kay, even if you don't have your sheepie by October, we expect to see you at SheepieFest!5, the northern Illinois picnic. Haven't set a date yet, but it will be at Shoe Factory Forest Preserve in Hoffman Estates. |
Can't wait. Thanks for telling me about it. A bunch of sheepdogs together. Must be heaven kay |
Hi Kay. I'm so sorry for your loss. Most of here have lost a sheepie at sometime, and know the void you are living with. I, too, am in Northern Illinois. I have 2 sheepdogs (one is a rescue) and a rescue Border Collie. The Nita and Nancy are wonderful people to work with. They will do everything they can to help you. And yes! We will expect to see you at SheepieFest! 5 in October! Welcome. |
Hi Kay-

Thanks everyone. I live north of Crystal Lake Illinois. He is such a joy. Went to a friends house yesterday and he kissed and played with her cats and got worn out by her 11 yr.old son. Took him to the barn and the girls set up a jumping post. Boy can he jump. Today see if I can find agility class.Might have to start with basic but he extremely well behaved. have not left him alone yet. Concern about separation anxiety. I know what a worry wart. Haven't renamed him and might not. am not sure yet. I have been trying to get in touch with nancy and we are playing phone tag. Could someone direct her to this message. I have left message galore and her messages sound like I didn't get thru. I know shes having trouble with cable and phone. Maybe thats it. I just don't want her to worry
Thanks kay and fussball |
Hi Kay-
I just spoke with Nancy. I had forwarded your note to her and her sister was able to retrieve it. The repair person is there now trying to fix the problem she's having with her phone/internet service. Please give her a call on the CELL phone number she's left for you. You'll be able to reach her at that number. If you didn't write it down, just drop me a note and I'll PM you. Congrats again on adopting this boy! |
I have been calling Nancy since Tues. Tried again and her mailbox is full and left a message on the other number. I was so concerned I called Grace to give her an update. I got a call from the forum saying to call her on her cell but the message ended before I got the number. I think I have both her cell and her regular number. I just don't know.
I also have the cold from ------ and am going to bed right after a hot bath. If someone could give me her number, I'll try again tomorrow. But again the one voice message is hers and the other is just full. I have so much to tell her about this wonderous little fellow. Anybody got any ideas. I'm really dragging right now but he is getting his 3/4 walks per day. He is a joy. Kay |
Hi Kay-
Quote: I have been calling Nancy since Tues. It's a problem with Comcast... when the internet access goes out, so does her telephone service. She's had their repair people out to fix the problem a few times. Even after the repair man left her house yesterday the line would go dead at times while we were talking. My son recently moved downstate and is also currently disgusted with the service too. Quote: I got a call from the forum saying to call her on her cell but the message ended before I got the number. Yeah, it was me. I called twice yesterday and didn't find you home. While I was leaving a message the second time, your recording indicated that your mail box was also full. I tried to call back but the message said to call back later and wouldn't allow me to leave the rest of the cell number. Go to the top of this screen... look at the top where it says forum.oes.org.. Under that there is an area that says "messages" in the bottom line- middle. Click on that and you'll find your Private Messages. I just sent you Nancy's cell number in case you only wrote down her land line number. There is also a message waiting for you that I had sent back on Jun 19, 2008 1:07 pm that hasn't yet been retrieved. You'll need to be logged in to retrieve/read your Private Messages. Quote: I have so much to tell her about this wonderous little fellow.
This is FABULOUS!!! He sounds like a good boy. Nancy is eager to talk with you too and hear all about him and offer help/advice if needed. If you have any other problems, call me or I can call you, send me a Private Message or post here. If there's a better time to reach you, just provide a time to call. I've included three of my phone numbers. I work at home so am here most of the time except for errands... and a bit of goofing off. I hope you're getting over that cold and feeling better soon! |
