A couple years ago I found a self study course provided by FEMA for animal evacuation during a disaster, it's great information, http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/is10.asp |

this is definitely something to take the time to do. The
More prepared you are the easier it is for emergent services to help you! |
Great idea for a post! I'm currently on Lesson 3, Unit 2. I don't think I'll be able to get as certificate as I'm in Canada but no matter - interested to find out more.
I'm always fearful of an emergency with so many critters at my place. It's the reason I won't trade in my van as I always have evacuation on the back of my mind. I wouldn't go anywhere without them and need a vehicle that large for transport. Ironically, always have extra supplies, crates and first kits available for them all as I live in an earthquake zone. Still, saying that, a van wouldn't help me if I was unable to drive out of the area but we'd have enough food/water/medical supplies for at least 2 wks. Ummm I'd have to learn to like pet food as I don't have enough people supplies to last that long - just pet food. Marianne |
