Losing Pigmentation on Nose

London's nose is losing pigmentation going slowly back to pink. Right now it isn't noticeable until you get up close.

Has anyone had this happen or is this something she needs to see the vet for? Any ideas?

yes, yes, yes!!!!! panda too!!!! but her bottom lip is also turning pink...

the vet said (over the phone) that it was probably vitiligo and if she was still eating and acting normal, not to worry but will check it out in sept during her normal visit......

i am calling panda my little piggy now....poor baby
What kind of bowls is she eating out of? Stainless steel bowls can affect the pigment in some dogs.
I always thought stainless steel was the way to go!!!! Oh no..... hmm..
We have stainless bowls. What types of bowls do you use?
I'm sorry, I was backwards. I meant switching to stainless bowls and I typed what I wanted to suggest to fix it as the problem! It's plastic that can cause pigment loss, not stainless steel. My apologies for that.
My yorkies nose does that, it is either a winter or a summer thing, cant remember which way round!
My sister's terrier mix's nose also does that seasonal thing. At some time during the year it's more noticable. It goes from black to pinkish to black.
I believe it's called Dudley nose.
Why does the plastic bowl turn the nose pink? I've never heard of that before now. I DO learn something new everyday here!! :D

Some dogs are just sensitive to it and it causes kind of a contact dermatitis. It can be triggered by an antioxidant in the dishes from what I've read.
Baloo has ceramic dishes.... are these as good as stainless? He's only 10 mos and still has puppy pink areas on his nose. His bottom lip and around his eyes are still pink too.

Wonder if there are chances that if they have pink noses longer (like Baloo) that it will go back pink when he's older??? Does that even make sense??
Ceramic is just as good as stainless-- neither harbor bacteria like some plastics can.
panda has a stainless food bowl and a ceramic water bowl....so nothing there either for her......

i gave her another bad haircut yesterday...why is it that i can only do either her legs OR her head good???? this time her legs look great..but her face is choppy....so her nickname for the moment is skeletor miss piggy.... ..poor pooh
