that entire post was hilarious!!!!
but the part about the lady not opening the window did me in! i have yet to see any sheepies in my area but i know they must exist! |
I very rarely see them around here. I occasionally run into one or two I've rescued and rehomed over the years, but that's it. The groomer who shaved the dogs down for their summer cut had two of mine and two of someone else's in on the same day for shaves! Can you imagine shaving four at once? LOL
Last month I was in Washington, D.C. for a business trip. I was walking along with some colleagues and we were headed to dinner - and up ahead there was a man talking to some friends and had two sheepies on leashes laying at his feet. I was so exited I walked right up to them and when I got there I realized what horrible condition they were in. They were dirty and matted....I tried to be polite with a, "Oh lovely dogs, I have three OES myself..." He talked for a sec..."Really, wow you have me beat. Aren't they just the greatest?" I was thinking yes, but they need someone to take care of them! I was just heartbroken over them. The very next day I was in Alexandria and there was another walking with his owner on a leash. This one was in full coat and just gorgeous, but I was on the other side of the street and couldn't go say hi. |
LMAO
Stalker! LOL |
We got Chauncey from south central PA. We have only seen 2 other's in 2 years, both at the local Hagerstown Petsmart for their Christmas grooming. Chauncey was about 4 mos at the time, one was two, the other seven. They allowed me to go back a see them but understandably wouldn't give me any info.
Yes, I really wanted to hang out and stalk ( I mean wait & greet ) the owners but it was the day before X-mas eve and Bob was getting hyper about getting things done. |

I wonder if the green mini van was Shellie? Which antique store was it?
I have a green mini van but that only has sound stickers on it!! I'm still dying to go into work late so that I can sit on front street and see the morning sheepdog walker! |
Mandy, after that last post I can see you in dark glasses, a long black trench coat, binoculars at your side, peeking out from behind a newspaper, smoking a cigar.
It's great what we'll do to meet another sheepie. I'd love to be close enought to have play dates for Chauncey and other sheepies. All of his friends and play dates are labs and a black chow. But they have a great time romping in the yard. |
It was off of 34 between Shermansdale and New Bloomfield. |

Well, not me. Haven't been out that way in a while. Wasn't there a Perry County Sheepdog around here for a while? Now I have to go look! I'm going that direction for class tonight, maybe I'll run into them..... |
We live up that way. I haven't seen any other sheepies up here other than that mini van the other day. I walk the dogs at Little Buffalo all the time and have never seen any sheepies there either. Beauford draws quite a crowd when we're there. |
Until I adopted Max, I had never seen one in person. Now I can't imagine anything else. I took him to school and everyone wants one now!

Lally LOL - I just did a similar thing at my niece's grad party Sunday evening. We were on the way home from the show, so stopped there before going home. Chewie charmed everyone and was the hit of the party. I was worried to be upstaging the honoree, but she loved it - said her friends would remember her party. And her dad kept calling me over to "explain all that stuff he does". Geez, I hardly got to eat my supper or sit down all evening! |
It wasn't me, sorry! There are so few around here
I get too excited when I see one. People must think I'm nuts. One time, about 2 years ago, I was going to the store and I saw a van with sheepie stickers and paw prints on it. I was so sure it was someone I knew from this forum. There I was beeping and yelling and making a complete fool of myself. I followed the van till I lost it in traffic. As soon as I got home I pm'd the person I was certain it had been - but it wasn't her! Talk about feeling like an idiot. I think I know now who it was, but they aren't forum people. They are actually from my own town though, and I've only seen the dogs in pictures from our newspaper. My sister knows them, but I've never met them. I drive a white van with a small "I love my sheepdogs" thing in the window. Now you'll know it if you see us! Shellie |

Shellie That was me this morning only I didnt beep... traffics too crazy LOL but I spied the sheepie walker again this morn on my way into work. (mandy it was 630 and near Geiger street) Anyway when I saw the man I started waving hysterically. He probably thought I was this weird woman trying to pick him up The next time I am in Hershey I'll keep an eye out for a white van. LOL I'm down that way quite often to visit friends in Campbelltown. My car has a sheepie and paw prints. :D: |
