I have heard great things about the Cuisinart one. I have a small foreman grill and like it - don't love it, but like it. |
i have a george and i only use it for veggies and lambchops...but those turn out great....i still burn porkchops on it...so i use the regular grill for that.....
leeks tossed with sea salt and olive oil are just awesome on the george!! |
I own a small kitchen store and sell lots of indoor grill skillets.
The only electric model we sell is the Cuisinart "The Griddler" -- $129.99 It can be used to make paninis etc. It also has flat plates that can be used for pancakes, french toast, etc. Some people use it closed to cook their bacon and keep it flat with no splatters. The most popular non electric grill pan for the cook top is the Berndes, made in Germany with a lifetime warranty. It can be used on a smooth top electric stove. It comes in 2 sizes. All-Clad Grill pans have ridges on the bottoms so they can not be used on smooth top electric stoves. However they are very nice pans. They come in both round and square. Another option , if you like colorful pans, is LeCreuset or Staub. They are both made in France and are very heavy. They are enameled cast iron on the outside and regular cast iron the inside. No dishwasher! LeCreuset has a panini press. Lastly, Lodge cast iron is preseasoned, very heavy. Use caution with smooth top electric ranges. Made in TN. We have never had any of these items returned... Marie |
I had the large george F. I did not care for it. Gave it away. I now have the cuisinart and love it. it opens flat , 2 sets of grill plates. Easy clean. |
