They had some kind of falling out over something.... Anyhow my Mom had run into her 30+ years ago at a Mall when I was a baby and She asked my Mom to have lunch with her. My Mother's MIL was with her and wanted to get home to watch her Soap Opera. (no VCR's back then) So they did not have lunch and lost touch with each other. My Mom said a few months ago that I was really good at digging up dirt and info with the genealogy and asked if she could find her BFF. Well... I did!! She called me this afternoon and was calling my Mom after she got off the phone with me. I am so excited and I know my Mom will be too. |

maybe you could do some good around here too...not the dirt part! |
Well this was pretty simple... I did a search, paid for it, then wrote a letter.
Mom just called to say she just got off the phone with her friend. They are going to get together in a few months. Her friend actually already has plans to come to California in the next couple of months. I am so excited and can't wait to see them together. They were best friend from little kids up until @ 30 yrs old. I have only met a handful of my Mom's friends from when she was younger. My advice for the forum members is: To always remember Ron's Tea Mantra! |
Aw, that's so nice, E! |
My sister told my Mom tonight that this was her B-day (her 65th B-day is June 25) present from us.
I did all the research and wrote the letter. But this was to throw her off. I think it worked... what a better gift than having your best friend back in your life. We are having a surprise party for my Mom later this month. I did invite her friend but unfortunately she has plans. That would have been the ultimate present. But she will be seeing her soon. |

You are so sweet Elissa. Your Mom is so lucky to have you as her daughter. |
Not to be a wet blanket, but my mother got to meet a long-time friend after a long absence and while it was nice to say "Hi" it just wasn't the same anymore. |
You are a good daughter |
You seem to have a magic touch, bringing people and people / people and animals together E |
Thanks guys!

Well who knows... .but they did spend about 40 minutes on the phone. Mom's friend seems excited. She called me right after my letter arrived. |

pepsi's mommy inspired me to search for a friend i lost touch with....we'll just say some time ago (so you can put the calculators away!), and google was all it took! we spent at least an hour and a half on the phone. she has not changed at all! it was as if i had spoken to her yesterday. she kept getting floored by me -- sheesh! funny thing was - she recognised my voice after rgeggjrgj years! we have plans for her to come and stay a few days in the summer!!! |
That's great!! |
