And......he's expecting me to go with him tonight. Help, I need some support. |
|
They sell wonderful support garments at Lady Grace. |
that"s great even if you don"t think so right now
walking around the track or basketball court takes up an hour easily, and you don"t even have to break a sweat! |
Sit in the corner and ooogle all the guys. When husband asks what you are doing answer, "Looking at all the good looking guys......look at the buns on that one!!"
He'll drag you out of there quickly. |
Don't make yourself crazy. Go with him. Do just want you think you can do. Walk the track. Or treadmill (most have tvs, so bring headphones). If you swim, and they have pool, by all means, swim! Or sit in the sauna and daydream. I love my gym...but that's just me. Don't stress yourself out. Give it a chance, and then if you don't like it, just tell hubby, you don't want to do that. Good luck! |
^^
practicing her WW Leader skills she learned over the weekend |
Ok, so I actually "agreed" willingly. Seemed like a good idea at the time I don't know WHAT I was thinking.....
I'm not really stressed out. But I don't really want to go |
And...I've already given my son a lecture on low density energy foods! (I'm workin' it! I'm workin' it!) |

He'll drag you out of there quickly. Maybe not a bad idea. EXCEPT, he'd never buy it, he knows I only have eyes for him. |
Probably a good idea to go though. I just lost some weight and the last thing I want is loose skin |

That weight loss was on WW by the way! Debcram |
Oh, and don't even think you're getting a picture |
That's why I joined a gym. I had a treadmill at home, but as I lost weight, and I got "soft" the treadmill just didn't help that. So, I took up working out. Its really helped alot, although at 58, I'll never have a "hard body". But I'm pleased. How much weight have you lost? |
Over 14 lbs so far.... My brother called me and I told him he just wanted to talk to his "skinny" sister. |
That is great!!!!!!!! Congrats! |
Oh and Zahra & PaulaO, the gym has Zuumba classes! |
I got a reprieve, hubby called to say he's working late. He actually had the nerve to suggest I go ahead and go without him
Funny, Ron, what's Lady Grace? I probably need those garments. |
Lucky you!!!
BUTTTTTTTT..... in all seriousness, I've never known someone to go to the gym and feel WORSE than when they walked in. I think you would have felt good going |
Joahaeyo wrote: I've never known someone to go to the gym and feel WORSE than when they walked in. I went to the gym every single workday for an entire year. I looked great and felt OK when I wasn't there I suppose, but I hated every single second of it. I didn't like the pain I felt doing everything, I didn't like having sore muscles all the time. I didn't like the atmosphere, I didn't like most of the people around me, I didn't like the facilities, the pool was always crowded with inconsistent swimmers (speed-wise). The indoor track was OK but I don't like running and even the cusioned track wasn't good for my knees.
But OH how I wish I was in that shape now!!! |
Well, I definitely don't like looking at a bunch of fit hot chicks when I'm wrinkly flabby chick with twig legs ............but I always felt better about stuffing my face afterwards
As far as the pain the next few days... I thought that was the best part |

Yep...me too. Now I know where the expression..."hurts so good" comes from! |
Joahaeyo wrote: As far as the pain the next few days... I thought that was the best part Huh?
Besides, "the next few days" was every day of my life because I went 5 days a week. |
The pain lets you know your workout was good! Glad Deb knows what I'm talking about!! Sorry you were in so much pain. I wouldn't want to be "miserable." Usually when you go back the next day and push through the pain, it stretches out the muscles that got tight the night of the intense workout. Not working out the next day makes the pain worse. I always worked out 6 days a week ...most of my life, but I think you might have mentioned you had an injury??? so your workout may have been targeted to something specific so you had no time to let that muscle rest? |
I try to go 5 days a week...on the days I don't go I do something. I walked the dogs on a coupler today. Later on I found that Bella had two cut pads. I guess the herding class yesterday was rough on her soft feeties. Poor thing...no wonder she doesn't want to walk on the pea gravel in the dog run. I did let her go out on the grass instead.
New exercises can make us all sore for a bit. |
You could get the Wii Fit Ron. That way you can exercise and stay fit without having to leave your house.
Okay so it works for me because I am anti-social. I went to the gym for a while but I would rather get all sweaty by myself without an audience. So since I wanted to get toned I must admit I jumped on the Wii Fit band wagon. I love it and do about 53 minutes a day on it. My favorite part is looking at the graphs and seeing my weight and BMI chart everyday. |
I've wanted a treadmill in my office for a couple of years now, but it just never seems to happen. I want a nice laptop holder for it so I can work on the forum and walk at the same time. |

Last year for my birthday...I had picked out a beautiful diamond tennis bracelet. The weekend before my birthday, my daughter was home from college and we were in the kitchen having coffee and chatting. Tony walked in and said my gift was in the car, did I want it early? Well...HELLO! YES! He said he need some help getting it in. Help, biring in a tennis bracelet???? He said he decided to buy me a Nordictrak treadmill I was devistated! I felt like a kid that got underwear for Christmas! He said if I didn't want it, we shouldn't take it out of the car, and he just go return it. I felt terrible. It was not what I wanted, but he seemed so excited about it. So...I said, no, I would keep it. We schelped it in (it took all 3 of us) and set it up. Everytime I looked at it, I cried. He said he was sorry, but he knew how hard I was working to improve my health, and he thought I would love it. It sat for about 2 weeks before I could stop crying at the sight of it. Then I thought ***f*** this! I'm getting on! I started at 1 mile an hour, for 10 minutes, 3 times a week. I now go 4 miles an hour for 45 minutes several times a week (mixed with the gym workouts)...and I love it. Best gift ever! Tony still tells me, when he is on his death bed, he will see that disappointment on my face...I hope not, because looking back, he did it for all the right reasons. And I've benefitted so much from having it. |
Maybe he could get you the bracelet this year to have a 'happy face' to remember!! |
Phew! Glad there's no room in this house for a tred mill. I'll just have to settle for the tennis bracelet!
For our anniversary hubby bought me diamond studs. At the time I was having computer trouble and thought, "For the price of the earrings I could have a kickin' new computer." I mentioned something like that to hubby. He was crest fallen. But I kept the earrings, wear them and have regretted my comments about the computer ever since. |

You'd be better off on a recumbent bike to do that-- much safer! I find it amazingly difficult to try to do anything while walking on a treadmill because your whole body is moving at the same time that the treadmill is moving and it's really tough to read unless you're walking about .5 mph. A bike would keep your upper body straight and you can modify the readout panel to accommodate a laptop or keyboard. Plus, if you slow down to coast for a second, you won't go flying off the back! |
Have fun! Let us know how you like the Zumba class.
If the gym has a Nia class that is a nice option too. You can work the same routine in your own time and at your pace. Its nice for everyone, but especially if you are starting a consistent exercise program. www.nianow.com www.zumba.com Funny, Ron, what's Lady Grace? oh, and Lady Grace http://ladygrace.com/about-us/a/1/ |
Besides having a good selection of products, Lady Grace is where you go when you have a difficult chest to fit. They have been able to help several women I know achieve a proper fit.
That's about all I'm willing to say in public. |

If I was drinking...it would be all over the screen. I would love it if my dh asked me to join a gym with him. I love to work out and yes I love the pain of the after workout. Yes I am weird. |
