have you gone to the Vet? |
sounds like a bit of incontinence going on which could be due to a variety of things. I would have your vet check it out. maybe have them get some urine in case of an infection and some xrays to see if there are any stones. It could just be age related as well. |
I'd make an appointment to have him checked over...
take a sterile urine sample with you. Also check into a belly band diaper for him- http://www.diapersfordogs.com/maledog.htm |
If it is not an infection, stones, lack of testosterone, weak sphincter muscle, prostate problems, some diseases (ugh)........is the dog drinking excessively?? Don't let the doc pass this off as "older dog" problem, get the full work up including blood draw. (I'm thinking adrenal problems). It may be older doggie problem, but would be nice if you had an actual cause, not being written off by the vet.
In the mean time you can put some male doggie diapers on him: http://www.pet-dog-cat-supply-store.com/shop/index.php?page=shop/flypage&product_id=10722 He'll feel better.....he knows he's leaking and may be a bit ashamed. Also older dog senility might be at play here......he's forgetting his housetraining....unlikely since it happens when he's down. |
thanks to all. what makes wounder is he does not do this at all during the day, even after a long nap. just during the night |
