Do we want one if there isn't? |

There is a New England club. North East would probably be too far reaching, but I've always wondered why there is no NY one. Are you volunteering?
There are a number of OES breeders in NY, especially if you include down state, and a bunch of OES owners, plus NYS rescue so you have the basis for a well-rounded club. Marlene Porzio (breeder) in the southern tier does performance - or at least she has, hopefully still does - so you wouldn't be alone in that regard either. You could start by contacting Madeline. Seriously. NY should have a club. Kristine |
I can get you in touch with Madeline, Just PM me and I will give you her phone and e-mail, she lives less than 10 miles from me. |
I wish ther was, I am in that neck of the woods. Marlene no longer does performance, but she has talked about going back to it. She is a mentor of mine. Maybe someone could start one up |
Hi,
I am in the NYC area and would be interested in a NY OES club. Keep me in the loop as to where this is going. Kathie |
Please let me know if this gets going.... I am all the way up in Fort Drum NY (hour north of syracuse) but I would love to try and get involved. I'm not showing Baloo... but I want to help and hang out and learn stuff.
OH and let Baloo meet other sheepies as we have only found ONE in the immediate area and they are moving soon. |
I talked to Marlene and she is interested in a NY club, as being a member. What do you have to do to start up one? |

The first thing you do is track down your friendly instigator (oh, Kerry ) Then whomever you drum up as interested gets together, even electronically, and decides what the purpose of the proposed club should be. Then one of you talks to St Louis re how they did it and why they're doing it the way they're doing it. And depending on what you want out of the club and if there's enough core interest, you get Marlene to talk to Madeline and Rick and whomever else might be interested among the breeders. I've always thought bringing showing, performance, rescue, education and social all into one club would be the ideal, and not many clubs can pull that off. Heck, what am I saying? We don't have that many clubs left Though you're spread out throughout the state, you have the right mix of people to get it off the ground and really do great stuff if you wanted to. Just my 2 cents as a former New Yorker who always wished we had had a club. Kristine |
Thanks Kristine I will get in touch with George, OHHHHHHHHHHHH George are you out there The type of club you describe would be awesome, Marlene and I show but we also do agility and obedience, I have not done rally yet, but would like to start. Marlene & I also took our dogs to a herding test last year, and would like to do more with that in the fall. So I do think we could have something for everyone. I will see Madeline this weekend at a show, and put a bug in her ear. Hey let us know any other info you might have, thanks |
friendly instigator here
I am concentrating on performance with my guys - whethr for competition or not i am not sure at the moment. I am spread very thin but would love to do what I can. |
