Help? Does Nikki need to go to the vet?

Sorry, this really doesn't fall under behavior but I didn't know where else to put this. Nikki's (my foster oes) bottom fang teeth are broken in half. I wasn't concerned at first. I figured they were broken due to him trying to chew on his chain trying to break free at his former home. The thing is I was petting him this morning and they appear shorter than they used to be. Is this something I should worry about? Does he need to go to the vet? He is very skinny and so was my Lucy, so I have them both on Propac puppy formula. It is suposed to be very good. Should I change his food? It doesn't seem to bother him. He will still chew on things. Any suggestions would be great!! P.S. he is 6yrs old and has been on a 3ft chain for most of his life. Somehow he ended up at a shelter. Then was rescued by a vet.

How old is Nikki? Do the teeth appear to be broken, or worn down? Also, are the gums bleeding or red? What does Nikki like to chew on?
It is probably fine, it may have been from chewing chain etc like you think, and the teeth may be weaker due to malnutrition. They may strengthen somewhat once he is back into healthier condition. If you are concerned I would take him to the vet anyway, frequent check ups are a good idea anyway for a dog who was malnourished and is being brought back into good health, the vet should monitor weight gain and listen to Nikki's heart etc to make sure changes aren't happening too rapidly.
Thanks Willowsprite. He is 6 yrs old. They definately look broken. I have a vet here in town that is good about working with me with my rescues. How much weight is too much wieght to put on when they are malnurished?
I would go to the vet a broken tooth could get infected, not to worry you but having it checked will reassure you.
