Explosive ball of energy!

Hi, all.

My pup was neutered on Thursday, I've been taking him on gentle walks everyday, but for the first time today I led him off-leash to the backyard to pee, and he (with all this pent-up energy), started running like crazy around the house along the perimeter of the yard! I was so worried that he would bust his stitches.

Obviously he is no longer in pain, but is it dangerous at this point to let him have a run around the yard like that once a day? He also managed to chew and crack his e-collar!

Did your vet send him home with any post-surgery instructions?

We were told to keep the girls quiet for two weeks... no jumping, no running,
no flights of stairs, no off-leash play, no roughhousing. But I have no idea
about the boys...
The Vets say to keep them quiet for a few days.... What a joke, like that is even possible.
I would just keep on eye on him and the stitches.
My friend had a mutt that tried to scale a 10 ft wall right after surgery.
Luckily he did not rip his stitches.

As for the dogs I have had they usually return to their usual routines after a few days. I believe my males have only had one or two stitches and it's not in an area that would stretch or pull.
I feel for him!

Being a man I would
Just keep check the area for signs of infection or swelling. Chances are he's fine.
Sunny was the same after getting spayed. We tried hard to keep her settled down especially since she'd had complications because of the awful breeding situation she was put through in her prior life - big, ugly, real sutures and a good bit of spotting, but she wasn't having any of it. She was all about getting back to playing immediately. Fortunately, she was fine.

I still haven't figured out what this means: when I picked Sunny up from the clinic, another owner was there to pick up a smaller dog that had been altered at the same time. The assistant therefore gave us the post-op instructions and lecture together. She gets to the part about stairs, turns directly to the owner of the smaller dog and says, "...and be careful around stairs, for the first day she could be dizzy from the anesthesia, could fall easily or as she climbs she could tear her stitches." Then she turns to me specifically and just says, "Your dog will probably just roll down the stairs for fun." Then she went straight back into her lecture without flinching...
