My little girl had her Episioplasty today

Lily had her episioplasty today. She is very sore but on good pain meds. One of the doctors I work with did it this evening and looks like she did an awesome job. Lily is refusing to walk ofcourse but is on good meds and hopefully tomorrow she will be willing to at least walk to the car.
For those of you who are asking yourselves what the heck I am talking about.. an episioplasty is where the skin over her vulva was removed and everything was lifted and tucked upward. She has been having one bladder infection after another and so we finally decided to do the surgery after the internist saw pustules in her urethra. Hope for a speedy recovery.

Get better soon sweetie.
Wishing a speedy recovery. I hope the surgery has fixed all the problems.
Poor baby :( . Feel better soon!
Just an update: Lily did well during surgery. My supervisor even let me monitor her while in surgery which is usually not allowed ( not allowed to help with your own pet unless off the clock). She was at an angle with her legs hanging off the table for about an hour and because of this she did vomit up some bile during recovery. Unfortunately this has caused her to have a very stuffy and snarfly nose and is bringing up bubbles of foam from this. It has also caused her to get esophagitis and now she wont eat her regular kibble and is on wet food diet for now. She is on a bunch of meds from torb/ace tabs for pain to pepcid and sucralfate for her tummy. She also is still taking her antibiotics so that the incision heals but also that her bladder doesnt reinfect in the mean time. She is overall pretty miserable and hasnt peed in a day or so but she isnt drinking much water anyhow. Hopefully she makes a turn around this weekend but if not we could be dealing with pneumonia as well. The incision site looks awesome though so that is something good.
give the lily girl a kiss from us....hope she feels better soon!
Update: So I changed her pain medication from torb to tramadol and she is doing much better. The torb was making her start to act crazy to the point where she would be sleeping then she would awake and go crazy running up and down the halls and then fall over and sleep again. I added some Ace on top of that to mellow her out but all that did was instead of the running about tantrums she would just stand there and stare out into space. you would call her name and no one would be home. I took her with me to my second job at the Emergency clinic last night and had one of the docs take a look and she switched us to tramadol and this morning she was actually wagging her little stump and was back to normal. So far she has made a lot of improvment from the last post I made so that is great. Her sneezing and breathing up bubbles has subsided most of the time so that is good too. hopefully she will be better by end weekend.
Hope heals up quickly and glad you are over the pneumonia scare.
I hope she feels better soon. I can't imagine what that must be like for her or for you.

Best Wishes,
Christina
When I first read this post I thought you were talking about your daughter. 8O
Well I do consider Lily to be my daughter since I dont have any human kids of my own. I also have a son named Bear. I even call them my kids when I walk in the door after work.
Hope she makes a painfree and speedy recovery. I didn't know there was a surgery available like that. My "kids" send their :ghug: too!
I hope Lily is doing better today.

I have one who has reacted poorly to pain meds too - you just never know!
Is her pneumonia/resp trouble better? Aspiration is so nasty (as you know).
I'm glad to hear the Lily is doing better with the med change.
I hope she's doing even better today and that this surgery will take
care of her bladder infections. Fingers are crossed for a full and
speedy recovery!

:ghug:
Lily is definitely back to her normal self, all bouncing around and everything. From now on no more torb or ace for her. We are keeping her on clavamox for another 14 days and then we will recheck her urine and hopefully things will be all clear. She is still having issues with her chest though. She doesnt have pneumonia so that is good news but she may have developed a bit of megaesophagus which is troubling. She regurgitates water and kibble at random and that worries us a bit. She is on sucralfate liquid in the hopes that it gets better and not worse. If it gets worse I dont know what ill do but we will figure it out. The regurgitating has decreased considerably since the start but she is now coughing a little with it. We will see, hopefully the sucralfate will take care of it all.
Best wishes to Lily. I am glad she is feeling a bit better.
I am so happy she is much better! I had never heard of this before thanks for letting us know about it...........great teaching/learning experience.

give her a hug..........
