No advice Karen, but I hope it all goes well.
Looking forward to pictures. |
we were told to introduce through a gate so each would feel free to leave and safe. we did this with our female and the new puppy - went pretty well.
With the boy we just let him sniff and they started rolling and playing. |
That sounds like a good idea. I usually do that with new fosters when I bring them home. Once they've sniffed each other through the fence, then they run around the yard together for awhile and get used to one another.
Good luck. I'm sure they'll be fine. |
Introduce on leads or through a gate. Take all toys up so no jealousys happen till they get use to each other. Feed seperately for awhile in different areas and take up food bowls straight away so no food fights happen.
Spend one on one time with each, pop one away and play with one then swap over that way each has a special time with Mum and Dad. Supervise when the two are together playing till they get use to each other If your using crates with each, pop there own special toys in each individual crate so each one has there own special toy that is theres. Good luck with everything and look forward to hearing how it all goes. |
Thanks for the advice. We've been with Poppy to obedience training tonight and he suggested that we let Poppy 'sniff' Sweetpea in her crate to start with before we let them 'free' together. We have got a new crate already set up for Sweetpea and plan to feed them in their own crates for a while at least until they are used to each other. Sweetpea's bed is already set up in our bedroom too so Poppy gets used to that before there's anything in it!! Poppy is such a sociable dog I don't forsee any problems from her but she is so 'bouncy' I hope it wont be overwhelming for a new puppy. I'll let you know how it goes - camera is charging ready! |
Karen whereabouts is Sweetpea coming from, is it close to you? I am excited for you.... |
She is coming from Essex - about a two and a half hour drive away. We are excited too! Planning to get there about 2pm! |
Any news yet, or pictures?? |
Yes I think we should at least have got one photo by now...we dont even mind if it is a bit blurry! |
Hope the journey is good- the weather is not great today!
Good luck with introducing them, I'm sure it will all go well for you Hurry up with the pics we are such an impatient lot haha |
I keep logging on to see, and even hubby has just said has that Kings Lynn lady posted a photo yet |
I have just posted pictures through my bleary sleepy eyes! Poppy and Sweetpea got on so well they wanted to play all night too! After our charity ball on Saturday and not getting to bed until after 3am I knew we were crazy to collect a new puppy on the same day! How tired can you get before you stop functioning?? Things have settled down a bit today but it is sooooo cute to see them together - it was meant to be!
Pictures will be posted after approval - I promise! |
I am so pleased they are happy together. Ok I will go to bed and wait the photos tomorrow. Hope they let you get a bit of sleep....xx |
