THe water bowl

Sophie has a new, trick and oh is it ever messy. She has started digging water out of the water bowl with her paw. We used to have a cat that would put her paw in the water and drink from her paw but nothing like this. She just gets crazy and her paw goes crazy making this huge puddle on the floor. It was funny at first, now its annoying and very messy. I guess its better than some of the other puddles she leaves us.

This too will pass......these pearl divers are fascinated by water. Others are into blowing bubbles under water. Such silly dogs.

No clue how to stop it, I invested in a lot of beach towels and changed the towels and water often. Finally went to elevated bowls, that helped.

In some ways I'm grateful my crew is older, we've been through all that silliness already.
Ahhh! The water bowl digging. Daisy is just over a year and mostly doesn't dig in the water anymore. For awhile there it was constant flooded kitchen floor. Old beach towels are what I used too.

If Daisy gets bored and leaves my side, I know she is digging her water or trying to find empty toilet paper rolls to munch.

The good news is she does this less and less often as she gets older.
We had to get one of those trays you use to put wet boots on and put the water bowl on it. In fact, we got two so that a dry one was always on hand. And lots of towels handy, as others have said. In our case, it stopped as suddenly as it began, but it was no fun while it lasted.
Summer hasnt done this thank goodness!! It is bad enough if I drop kibble or something in the water bowl or a bread crumb she tries to get it out with her mouth, and then the yorkie is trying as well and the yorkie gets soaked!
Luckily enough we haven't had this, Archie tends to drag his bowls stand across the floor to let us know he wants more water.

He can make some incredible noises when he drinks, I never even thought about him blowing bubbles!
Oh Baloo has done this MANY MANY times. Usually after a little piece of kibble, grass off his chin or something ONLY HE CAN SEE that is floating around in the water. He will stick his entire snout in the water and make all sorts of noises and then look up all drippy when I laugh at him.

He's not done it lately (meaning the last 2 weeks! LOL) thank goodness! It does get messy!!!
 Rufus digs in his water bowl and drags it accross the floor. It's hilarious to watch Greg running into the kitchen waving his arms about yelling "Stop! No! Stop! Mummy's just cleaned the floor!" But I don't mind- I love my sheepie
With Milo its his food dish that isn't safe. He learned he could pick up his first dish and eat wherever he wanted...the living room, bedroom, couch. So we got a heavy porcelain dish...well that turned into floor hockey and a broken dish. Then we tried a nice raised dish stand with his water bowl and food dish....he learned he could brace it with a foot and flip it. So the nice expensive dish stand has 2 water bowls and we are back to the original food dish which he carries all over the house. I should have just said uncle in the beginning and never tried to best the sheepie!!! :?
OK... This is Baloo after taking a dip in his water bowl at the NEOESR Picnic this year... My son had dropped a piece of kibble in it (he SAYS accidentally) when we were giving Baloo something to eat so we could eat in peace....

Tonks and Luna have mostly outgrown thier water bowl digging. But BOY did Luna want to get to that puppy refelcted inthe bottom of the bowl!

Now? They dig in their little puppy-pool! I got them a plastic kiddie pool from Toys R Us and on really hot days fill it for them. They proceed to empty it while standing in it by digging furiously at the water!
That picture of Baloo is a face I have seen many times at my house.
My cat Murray (at the Bridge) used to always dip his paw in the water, then would wipe it on the wall...then drink.
Oh no, some new tricks you just wish they would never have learned.
Here is another use for a water bowl!

I think she is dreaming of being a Bob Fossi Dancer
Those pics are so funny!!! Clyde used to carry the water through the house and let it drop where ever. He was such a slobby dog. My Allie was ever the lady and ate and drank so slowly I thought you could see her toe in the air like she was at a tea party!

My horse Pete does that!!! He used to tank up and come over and let go down my legs....
And he has a bigger mouth!
LOL.... HA HA HA HA
OH what funny characters we all have
Now the food bowl this is such a different tale.
The vet had us put CHeyenne on a diet so we feed all 3
separately now. BUT, Cheyennes bowl is in the kitchen.
Everytime it is empty Beau goes over and kicks it around as
if to say I'm hungary FEED ME!!! Even tho he still has food
in his bowl. We have decided that Cheyenne has secretly
told Beauford to do this so she can get more food and not
have to adhere to her diet
