Who can resist Snickerdoodles (recipe)

This is the recipe I've been using since Mr. J and I met. Sometimes he says it's what kept him coming back. :?

Image

* 1C butter room temp
* 1 1/2C sugar
* 2 room temp eggs
* 2t vanilla
* 2 3/4C flour
* 2t lemon juice
* 1t baking soda (actually used a little tiny more)
* 1/4t salt

* 3T sugar
* 3.5t cinnamon

400 degrees

Cream together butter, sugar, eggs & vanilla. Hand mix in the flour, lemon, soda, salt. Use medium scoop to form little balls and then drop this in a ziplock bag which contained the last two ingredients (sugar & cinnamon).

note: don't worry about overcoating b/c quite frankly, you can't. i hate things that are too sweet and they never turn out wrong! ...but you do have to use room temp ingred.

Put on baking sheet 2 in apart

Bake exactly 8 min. Enjoy!

Oh my Mrs J you are making me so hungry. A snickerdoodle with a cup of tea...heaven. I can feel the calories melting through the computer,,,Now back to the treadmill. :lol:
phew.......I was wondering where the flour is.......found the blank space.

Gee, and I was looking at the shortening when I stopped at the little market thinking.......hmmm, pie crust.....should have sprung for the urge.

I love cinnamon in most every form...........
edit: Just looked and I guess I did forget to write in flour!

Ohh, I made my first pie crust the other day! (speaking of shortening)

I'm waiting until I have more time to post it (was chicken pot pie). It's now this house's favorite dish and I'm not a big fan of the dish normally. I really need someone to help me stop cooking. I can't!!! Do you have any good pie recipes? Mmmmmmmm...
How much flour?
It's the one ingredient w/the amount but no ingred. 2 3/4C :)

After Key Lime, Lemon, then cherry, DH's favorite it Mudslide pie.......I don't have the heart to tell him it's coffee ice cream based.....he hates coffee :lol: :lol:
I want the mudslide one pa-lease!! I've never tried key-lime ...or mudslide but mudslide sounds delicious. :D
I edited the recipe and stuck the word flour in, but is there any particular type of flour?
Thanks!

I think it's more common to assume all-purpose unless otherwise stated. I have used part wheat flour before though.
They look wonderful Mrs J! Need to try your recipe.

For a no flour recipe :wink: , how about a Midori cheesecake

I am going to make this for Father's day.

The site has some neat desserts. I'll need a lifetime membership
to Curves after tasting a few of these desserts.
Snickerdoodles rock. The recipe I have calls for cream of tartar and i've never figured out why.

Jo, what "shortening" do you use?" Can you use all butter?
zahra, I like that website! Cool, thanks!

Paula, yes... I use all butter (when i use shortening, i use the butter flavor stick ones by crisco) and lemon juice or vinegar are both substitutions of cream of tartar, but I personally think it tastes different with cream of tartar (bad way). :)
