I think I posted that exact same question a few months ago
The only thing that worked with Barkley was for me to stand still and look up into the sky with my arms folded at my chest until she stopped. And I started wearing shoes inside so she couldn't bite my toes in the mean time. She didn't like to be ignored, so she would stop jumping and biting pretty quickly once she realized it was the only way she'd get attention again. |
Thanks for the suggestion. She hates to be ignored and this sounds like something that would work well. |
Good luck
BTW - I tried "yelping" and everything else at the time, none of which worked. Barkley is almost 7 months old now and has totally stopped with the nipping and jumping.. but we were playing last night and she accidently cut my hand with her tooth. I whimpered to tell her it hurt, and she seemed very concerned. I don't know if it's just because she's older now, or if the whimpering sound makes more sense to her than the yelp. |
I have been reading the forum for about 2 months now, getting ready for the puppy. I have read quite a few times to be patient and these things will pass. I want to be a good sheepie mom. BTW Barkley is precious. |
Thanks! She doesn't look quite like that any more - I'll have to update her pic.
It will pass, and I'm sure you're a great sheepie mom. |
When Heart came to me at 8 weeks last summer she began to nibble on me...I did do the "owww"...but I also gave her a command..( I know this sounds silly)... I would say in a very light-singsong voice..."kisses from my heart"...and she would give me a "kiss"... She began to kiss more and nibble less, because of the happiness in my voice....
NOW, 10 1/2 months later when I say that silly phrase, she runs up and gives me a kiss. Good Luck~~~~~ they grow up soooo fast...Heart will be 1 year old June 3rd~~~ I can't believe it!!!!!!!! |
Bella was the same she bit fingers and toes if she was excited. Ignoring is the only thing that worked. She is now 18 months and still grabs toes with her paws in play but has stopped biting. They do grow up fast but they are still sweet and silly. |
Thanks to all. You all have given me hope. She is so loving and such good company already. The biting and jumping happens when she gets what we call the zoomies. She is about 4 weeks away from being able to go for walks and be out and about in public and I am sure lots of walks will help all the energy too. |
i have a 3 months old thank to derby he is getting on the biting, so you need another one |
