Loki Bear is sick
So Saturday I took him in to the vet again. I KNEW something was going on - I insisted on a full chem panel, T-4, stool culture, urinalysis, the works. Sure enough, his BUN and Creatanine are high, and now they're using words like pancreatitis and kidney failure. The thinking is that the massive testicular infection he had when he was picked up as a stray spread to his organs, and even though he's been neutered and had two rounds of antibiotics it never totally cleared. To make it worse, the lab screwed up and didn't run the CBC, so we still don't know what his white count is. I have to take him back tomorrow for another blood draw 
So he's back on yet another antibiotic and no end to the blood draws in sight.............Does anybody have experience with pancreatitis? I have to admit I'm scared to death I'm going to lose him, after so short a time. |

I'm sorry to hear about Loki being sick. 
I hope they can figure out what is causing his problems, so he can start enjoying his new life without being ill. |

| Thank you all for the encouragement. The Bear is going back in tomorrow for another blood draw. He's been on antibiotics (Flagil) since Saturday and is actually doing well right at the moment - Eating like a pig, lots of snuggles and kisses and even manges to go out in the yard and lope around for a few minutes. He hasn't exhibited any signs of pain (the hunched over posture) and seems content and happy. He's sick of my constantly checking his nose to see if it's hot though (C'mon Mom cut it OUT!) and he's starting to tuck his nose under his paw when he sees me coming, but he lets me do what I have to do. We'll wait to see what his white count is, and I'm watching him like a hawk.
He's actually gained 10 pounds since we've had him (he needed them - He was SO THIN I could feel every rib and vertebrae) so I'm praying that the acute form of the disease will pass him by. |
