We had the same type of nose with Nelson, and still do. Nelson is almost 7months old now and although his nose has turned much much more black there are still splotches of pink. He also has pink around his eyes. In fact, it's so darling we call him 'Clown-eyes' because it looks like he has black tear drops. He's darling!
Just wait and gradually you'll come to notice a change daily. I don't know if Nelson or your 'baby' will ever get black noses but they sure are cute! |
I was also a bit concerned about the pink and black nose! I did some research and here is what I found. First of all, it is considered very normal... since the sheepies are black and white (grey skin and pink skin) it is simply a part of their genetic pattern. Usually it does disappear by the time they are adults. With our Pithy, it is still noticeable, but not nearly as pink as previously. I have grown to love it about her, her uniqueness intrigues me!! I was also informed that one can purchase sea kelp (possibly speak to your vet, because I never fully investigated this tip) which can speed up the process of filling in the pink. I hope this helps... you have probably already noticed the change in your dogs nose by looking at past photos!! |
My 3 year old, Shaggy Maggie Mae, had a pink spot on her nose when I got her as a puppy. Her vet at the time told me it would not change, and it didn´t. He also said that if she was going to show, it was a defect. I had no interest in showing her, she is my pet, but he thought she had potential. I thought the pink spot on her nose was kind of unique, I liked it. Since I travel for in my job, I boarded her with him for a week. When she was about 18 months, she still had the pink spot and I was really ticked off when I picked her up from being boarded and discovered that vet had tatooed the pink spot on her nose black. There is no difference in appearance where it was tatooed, you can´t tell where the pink spot used to be now. |
How awful! I would sue the vet, I can not belive how painful that must have been. Did you ask for this?
I wonder if the vet used "De nose nos"? |
I was so freaked out when we first got Zoe, 5 years ago. Her nose was also pink. It eventually did turn all black. We love that big, giant black nose peeking out of her hair!! |
