UPDATE on Spencer from GA!
Allison met me halfway from Columbia, SC to Atlanta and transported to the rescue. She called me a short time ago and said Spencer may already be adopted! A woman fell in love with him and still wanted him after she learned he tested heart worm positive. I'm crossing fingers and paws Spencer finds his forever home with a loving family. He was a joy to transport and so happy! It's like he knew he was on a way to a better life! I can't express enough thanks to Allison and Diane (3shaggies) for their help in coordinating this transport and shelter in Atlanta!!!!!!!!!!

| Spencer is an AMAZING dog! The whole drive back with him, I kept thinking " I could take him by Tom's house. Or maybe Chris and Riki would adopt him?"... I was mentally running through all my friends, trying to think of who could take him. I mean, theres no better present in the world than a perfect companion, and thats what Spencer seemed to be!
When I dropped him at the shelter, I talked with a young woman there that was looking at dogs. She LOVED Spencer (who wouldn't?) and said her boyfriend had had sheepdgos in the past. I admitted that if Spencer had any sheepie in him (which I do think he does) its a nominal amount. That didn't dissuader her though, and when I left she was calling her boyfriend and having him come down right away to meet Spencer... And Spencer wasn't even in his crate yet! So finger crossed; he's such a lovely, lovely dog, I'm sure he'll be in his fur-ever home very soon! |

| Well; Spencer's info has hit thier website; they are listing him as a "Bearded Collie" which I guess he might be, a little bit...

I think Spencer's story is misleading! It reads like I took him back to animal cotrol after I had him tested for heartworms. That's not true. I took him OUT of animal control, had him tested, and kept him at my home until he could be transported to Atlanta Pet Rescue where he could get the proper treatment. Am I being to sensitive about this? I apologize if I am. I am THANKFUL he's in a potential home now. He's such a sweet, happy boy! |

I think they are saying that he might have landed in the shelter you pulled him from when his prior owners detected that he had heartworms. So I think they are talking about the people before you. |
| I think they meant the original family as well BUT,
that being said it wouldnt have hurt to add "Thanks" for all that you guys did to save him! I am sure they appreciate what you did, it is hard in a brief description to get your whole point across! You aren't being too senstive you did a great thing! Thank you for saving Spencer |
| I know I over reacted! I did take it personnaly but I must remember, it was a TEAM EFFORT to get Spencer the help he needed.

I post this info/email from Judy with Atlanta Pet Rescue>>a fabulous group Dear Diane: Spencer went to a wonderful retired couple with grandchildren, and they took him home on approval to be sure he'd be good with the kids. He was and they are delighted to have him. They have had OES dogs before, and really, really liked him. I suspect from their attire, her jewelry and their car, that they are very comfortable financially, and Spencer will enjoy the best of care, grooming and attention from them. So sweet for the shaggy boy Spencer
