UK Owners shearing survey

I am reading a lot of shaving clipping type posts at the moment, and they mainly appear to be US origin in the main, posibbly due to the more reliable summer temperatures over there.

It got me thinking, so I thought I would poll the experiences of the UK owners out there as to the to clip/shave/shear debate, and being a new owner look upon the experiences of those in similar weather conditions to ourselves.

What do people generally do with regard to this in the UK?

Okay so the hound can get a bit mucky and we are enjoying some lovely spring sunshine at the moment, but would the hounds knees be knocking with our more normal cooler weather should he be scalped! plus it would definately see the end of his puppy fluff.

Hmmm, this is an interesting question. I am curious what the UK members answers will tally up too.
Summer is one year old in June. She will be clipped about then!!! Hubby used to be a barber so she gets like scissors and clippers....well she has never been done before but that is what we used to do to Katy!
Maizie is clipped at the moment as she did get a bit matted and she hates being groomed. But I don't like doing! But if she won't let me brush her!!!
So Im going to keep her coat about 1-2 inches!! Hattie has a coat she loves being groomed, She just lies on the table and goes to sleep.. ha ha!! But I do love to see them in coat!! they are big fluffy clowns :)
George is puppy cut every 10 weeks.

I never wanted him to be cut but.....
we had a bad experience in a kennel and he came home VERY matted so we had to have have him clipped. It was last summer and he seemed happier with a shorter coat so we carried on having him cut.

Also he hates being groomed, so it was better for both of us to have him cut as it reduces the amount of time he has to endure the pure torture of being groomed
Summer is being groomed as I type. She lays on the floor in front of the fan while my son combs her. She also has a chew stick at the same time..
Alot of us seem to have young pups- mine is 9 months and I would love to know who keeps them in full/long coat over the summer. People keep stopping us in the street & asking when we will cut him short because he looks hot (actually he always pants like that lol) I would like to trim him a bit, I'm waiting for more info first.

Kim, does Hattie stay in full coat through the summer?
I actually spoke to the breeders this morning just to get a take on their eight, only an old one is sheared the rest have full coats, and they don't suffer.

I think for the moment I will be holding off on any major haircut choices.
Yes cassie I am hoping to keep her in fullcoat this year!!! As I love to see sheepies in their coats. it alot of grooming it takes me around 2 hours to groom hattie fully out! But the end result is worth it!!! :)
Hi,
Just picked upon this thread, I keep Rosie fairly long but have never clipped her. I scissor her down to around 4" so she always looks fluffy and cuddly but this has only happened in the last year and since we live in the country it is a bit more practical.

I see so many oes clipped off and never fancied doing this to Rosie
