I have a Cutco peeler that I just love. Very sharp, moves easily.
At a recent church dinner, a fellow member brought in her peeler, I think is was a Rubbermaid. She loved that one, too. |
The Oxo brand (can get at Target) is supposed to be "ergonomically" designed and has a soft rubber grip. |
I second the Cutco brand. I've never used a product of theirs that I didn't like.
I just bought a new can opener from Target, but I don't know what brand it is, but it felt great in the store but is the HARDEST thing to use. I wish I remembered the brand. But I'm pretty sure the Rubbermaid and OXO are both good companies too. |
I like pretty much everything by OXO. I've not tried the potato peeler specifically, but everything I have tried I've liked. |
I have two I trade off...the OXO with the cushioned handle and then the Y shaped one.......is that a Cutco? Friend gave it to me saying, "This is amazing for a large number of potatoes, quick, easy and your hands don't hurt." I tend to use the Y for potatoes and the XOX for other veggies like cucumbers.....I don't know why. Don't want one to feel slighted?? |
I think for $500, you could pay someone to just do it for cheaper! |
LOL - I just use a paring knife.... |
Had time to look it up. The Y shaped one is Tupperware, not Rubbermaid as I originally thought. The owner swore by it.

I use a farberware peeler. It works nicely for me and I have had hand surgeries and my hands dont work properly.
The peeler has a grip handle and is easy to hold and peel! I think I bought it at Target or Walmart,it was cheap maybe $3. |
Yep, that's the Cutco one I have. I would recommend it! |
As someone who prefers to peel toward me (drove my mother crazy!) I always look for a EUropean peeler (cuts in both directions). There are many good reasonably priced ones out there now. |

I'd probably slice off my belly if I peeled toward myself |

Me too. Always a paring knife. I only use one for carrots. I hate carrots. Doesn't get used much. |
^^
me too. When I first saw this thread, I was so confused. There are expensive ones? People need "better" ones than the normal one which works in a matter of seconds no matter how cheap (or something other than a knife)? guess I learn something new all the time although I think the cheap one we have is still all i need for now. now mixers are a different story. Mr. J bought me a kitchenaid stand mixer for mother's day! http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-Artisa ... B0000DEKCA I heart it so much. He got busted trying to hide it in the garage, so I get to use it today when i make pizza dough. |
