My niece served them at a family BD party last weekend. Sure saves making bread crumbs and all the other stuff I normally do when I make hot chix sandwches. 5 boneless- skinless chicken breasts- roasted and shredded (about 1 and a half pound of cooked chicken) 1 box chicken flavored Stove top stuffing mix 1 can cream of Chicken soup 1 16 oz. container Sour cream Cook and shred chicken. Prepare stuffing mix according to directions on box. Mix chicken, stovetop, sour cream and soup together. Turn into crockpot and cook for 3 hours on high- turn to low and continue to cook for 1-2 hours. Stir every hour or so. yum-o! |

sounds easy and i love chicken sammies! |
Yum!
Our family loves chicken sandwiches too - have to try it. Thanks! |
There's enough liquid to keep it from scorching? Sure looks EASY! Good idea when church ladies feed a family resource center. |
I'm confused, is this a chicken SANDWHICH? do you put it on bread, eat it like a caserole? I'm confused |
It is a sandwich--eat it on bread, or , I guess however you like.
Believe it or not- they are moist enough that they don't scorch. I added just a touch more liquid in the stovetop---but didn't really need to. |
On bread or on buns would be my choice. |
So...I'm with Ginny and confused. What's the consistency of the finished product that goes onto the bread? Is it mushy like a casserole? |

Casserole sandwich doesn't sound very good to me |
I think it's the stuffing that is throwing people off since it's the same recipe many use just as a meal. ...but I imagine it's not too different than any slow cooker shredded beef recipe which for that amount of meat, we put 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup and use as sandwiches the 2nd and 3rd day of leftovers. |
that sounds like a lot of carbs!! |

That's what I was thinking...and I'm not even really carb conscious! |
For some reason this recipe is just INTRIGUING me!! I may just have to try it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

probably not very heart healthy either - think triglycerides in the stove top etc. |

You guys are no fun. Fat is yummy ESP carbs ........ESP sour cream! |
i think on a flour tortilla, id try it....im just not a bread person...when i order a sandwich for lunch, i pull the meat off one half and put it on the other and throw that part of the bread away....
then again, when i eat pie, i only eat the filling..... |

Mmmmm, pie filling....seriously the best part. along with just the frosting on the cake! |

Last time I'll post in this section |
I hope you weren't really offended by us food snobs My MIL actually makes the same dish and brags it's so good. Great for large crowds. We serve it as a main dish though, but I can easily see how it would taste good on bread Please post more recipes |

I'm gonna try it this week with my bunch. Sound yummy to me. |
Make this delicious dish, but without making it a sandwich. It turned out to be a cassarole. We couldn't get enough of it, so its a keeper in my book. |
I'm really years late on replying ...but haven't any of these negative Nellies EVER ate shredded chicken sandwiches? Obviously they've never made them ! ALL shredded chicken is "stretched" using either crushed crackers, bread crumbs or Stove Top (which it gives more flavor). AND a combination of flavored soups and/or sour cream. I'm older and have ate a fair share of shredded chicken sandwiches and have yet to think of this as a casserole. Furthermore.....if I was worried about WHAT carbs or heart healthy food I put in my body, I wouldn't spend so much time worrying about shredded chicken sandwiches after seeing the ingredients listed. Now I've forgotten the name of the lady that posted the recipe (must be the result of eating too many fatty, carb laden, caloric sh.ch. sandwiches LOL) But I want you to know I, for one, am on your side and love the easy peasy recipe !!!!! CHEERS to you !!! |

In fact, my niece requested that I make a crockpot full for Father's Day this year. I guess we are just "simple minded folk" that don't know any better |
Oh mamma, how did I miss this recipe the first time?????? Sounds delish. I'll make it as a casserole, or just eat it straight out of the crockpot! |

Basically, all it does it omit the traditional bread cumbs used in hot chicken sandwiches with the stuffing. I add a can of chicken broth, to make is a bit thinner so it cooks down more like the sandwiches that we love. |
It's called "Comfort Food." Warms the soul, fills the belly and puts a smile on your face. Still haven't tried it but keep meaning to. |
