Home Inspection Help

I have a home inspection on Thursday for a OES I visited last night (from Petfinder). Does anyone have any idea what specifics she could be looking for? Any help would be appreciated.

A clean home, evidence about how many/what age children, a fenced (or not) yard, a safe environment.

Maybe other pets...

What would you be looking for if you were an adoption agency placing a child? Aside from the child specific things, the idea is the same.

GOOD LUCK!!!! and welcome to the community.

Sorry as an adoptive parent I think that home inspection might be easier
It might depend on who is doing the inspection.

I'm pretty easy going. ;)
How comfortable you feel with having dogs in the house also plays a large part. :D
Clean, poop free yard, well fenced and properly gated and locked. Shelter outside, ready water source, no dangers (nails, boards, etc)

Where will the dog be during the day, night? Floors, steps (puppies) and puppy/baby gates, fireplaces......dangers.

Children, ages, temperament (of course they are active, but HOW active?) Pools, other recreation dangers.

Attentiveness of adults to children......are they aware of what's happening?

What do they expect from the dog? Dog experience. Realities of costs for food and vet care.
I am sure you have already been through the application process and referneces.
Once you get to a home visit the rescue group is just wanting to meet you get a feel of how you do with a dog.
It is uncomfortable at first but, once you start talking dogs the tension subsides!
I have been there and trust me the person doing the visit may be as nervous you are.
We love our sheepie fosters and just want to know they are going to the right home for them!
Relax.....what will probably happen is you will make a new friend!
Four legged and two legged!
On a final note---welcome to the forum!
Good friends and advice!
Good Luck
Kathy
How long the dog will be left unattended? good luck....
Thanks for all your help. I am very nervous as I really want this to go through. If I do end up with him, believe me, you'll be hearing from me a lot!

BTW- What does "shaved" me under my name? Newbie?
Good luck with your home visit.

Yes, shaved means "newbie". Your "hair" length will grow as you make more posts. :D
Lally, where in MI are you? Good luck, I'm sure it will go smoothly :)
good luck keep us posted don't get too stressed.
I am in Livingston County, in Howell. For those not familiar with Michigan, I am about 20 miles north of Ann Arbor, 30 miles south of Flint and 30 miles east of Lansing.

The visit is right after school today. The house is spotless. I actually have met with her and saw him on Monday. Hopefully, this is just a formality! Will keep you posted! I am SO excited I can't stand it.

When you have sheepies it usually doesn't stay that way
so go ahead and make it a little messy

Good luck to you today and let us know how it goes!
Best of luck 8)
Thanks for all the advice and the well wishes. I have my new sheepie! For those of you who keep on eye on petfinder, he is still listed as of now under the name "Bullwinkle"- http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displa ... d=10736158

Congrats on your new family member!! :D
He looks really sweet - I hope his transition to your home goes smoothly.

Name change?? more pictures??
Congrats!!! :clappurple:
My boyfriend and I had a go around with his name. I wanted Finnegan, Oliver or Oscar. He wanted Bigsby or Gibson. Our compromise? Max. LOL It's the only name we could agree on!

Pics to follow in a day or two.
Woo hoo!!!! Welcome to MAX!!!!!

I always wanted to name my first sheepdog MAX, but then my brother named his firstborn Max. I love max, but I was crushed!

THANK YOU for adopting a sheepdog in need.

You can tell everyone that you named him after Max Factor since he has such wonderful eyeliner.
OK, Bullwinkle would have been difficult, but cute. Max is fine. Funny Ron, my niece and goddaughter named her son Jack........no way I'm telling her there's a dog by that name in the family too.

Happy times with Max, he sounds like a real winner!!

That is funny about the names....my friend recently adopted a boxer and his name was Austin the same as her 8 yr old son. So she decided to change the boxer's name to Spike. The two legged Austin was disappointed because he thought it was cool that he and the dog had the same name. I had to babysit the "Austins" the day after they adopted the boxer and so trying to get Austin Boxer to respond to new name. Had to say Austin Sprike or Austin boy to distinguise who I was speaking to ...you can imagine the laughs we had.
woohoo!!! my first sheepie was a rescue I named max as well.
best of luck!
CONGRATULATIONSMax looks like a real sweetie!
Congratulations! I am the proud mom of a rescued OES and I can tell you, you've never experienced anything like it. It's a sheepie thing -- My niece, nephew, their friends, my sons' friends (all in their late teens/early 20's) come to my house to visit and adore the Loki Bear Sheepdog. It's pure love - Enjoy!
Congrats and thanks for adopting a rescue!
I told you the home visit would be fine!
Can't wait to hear more on Max!
