My dog Hamish ate a bag of raisins!

While we nipped out yesterday Hamish climbed on the unit and managed to open a cupboard and ate a whole bag of sultanas. Thanks to Rons post on grapes and raisins I knew that sultanas can cause renal failure we rushed him to the vet who made him vomit, then he has been put on a drip he must stay on that for a few days at the vets. We are hoping we have caught him in time we are so worried. we rang today the vet says he has ingested about a quarter of a bag. The drip is flushing his kidneys out. he has had loose motions some of the sultanas came out that way. Steves going to see him on the way home from work today we have to call tomorrow a 11oclock to see how he is

Oh my goodness!!! Of all the things to go for
We are praying for Hamish, it's good that you knew how dangerous they can be-thank you Ron!
Perhaps there is something in the air because Ru destroyed our new floor today & I also had to rush my friend & her dog to the vet :lmt: I think they telepathically communicate & decided to have a very naughty day indeed.

Hugs to both of you, Dougal and gentle hugs to ninja Hamish :ghug:
 Poor Hamish. Hope you are feeling better soon!
Our vet says we were very quick and thinks he will be okay. He has to have a blood test Friday to make sure he is okay. As I am typing this he is counter surfing in the kitchen., there is nothing for him to get, cupboard is now locked. Such a relief, have to still keep an eye on him for a couple of days.
phew! What a relief that you knew what to do and did it quickly! I'm glad Hamish is obviously feeling better!
:phew: Thank goodness!! These little ones can sure give you a scare! :phew:
YAY!

Next time, you'll have handy Hydrogen Peroxide to be able to get your pup to vomit in about 10 minutes or so!!!
Aww Glad to hear hes OK... jill Sending sheepie hugs... to little hamish!!!
Phew! The naughty little ninja! We are so glad he is OK, let us know how the results turn out :ghug:
You can also use salt to induce vomiting (a tablespoon if I remember correctly)
Big hugs :ghug: to you and Hamish.

Hope he feels better soon and a speedy recovery.

Next time he will know to make a steak on the
the George Foreman grill instead of all that work to
open the cabinet.

kids
