That is horrifying. |
should be illigal....pet abuse.. |
Disgusting. What is wrong with people?!?! |
I swear this planet is out of control...when will moral standards be popular again...how could anyone register a deaf purebred dog????? |
Limited registration would mean that the dog couldn't be bred and have it's litters registered and it couldn't compete in Conformation events but they would still be allowed to do agility and obedience events.
The FULL registration is the problem. That leaves the door open to breed away! Grrrrrr |

I am not sure morals have anything to do with it. and it is easy to say the dog shouldn't be bred (I happen to agree) but, perhaps there are larger questions about economics and why people have to do whatever they can to survive. |
At the very least, this is extremely irresponsible. Who would want a deaf dog as breeding stock? It doesn't make economic sense, even for a BYB or puppymill, when they can get hearing pups for the same price or cheaper from another BYB.
Oscar's breeder placed him with us and didn't ask for a penny, as she just wanted him to go to a good home. (She bred our first sheepie, Quincy, and we stayed in close contact with her throughout his life. She knew we'd take care of Oscar, no matter what.) Also, there was absolutely no question about whether or not Oscar would be neutered. Keeping him intact was never an option. And kerry, I get your point about people doing things to survive and it's a tough economy right now, but sometimes, people just suck. This makes me very sad. Laurie and Oscar |
Has anyone tried contacting the person and talking with them in regards to the full/half registration situation. maybe she is willing to find it a home in rescue. I have been looking for a special needs pup but I would rather rescue than have to deal with a person that is thinking about selling and allowing breeding? Do we know how to contact her? just curious |
I'll send you a PM with more info
in just a couple minutes... |

Is it worth contacting the AKC about this? I know they're only in it for the money, but I would hope that they would sanction a breeder that would provide full registration for a deaf dog???? |
I wondered the same thing.
So I asked a rescue if the AKC would do anything and was told they're only a registry... |
