How many would you like to have if you're working on it? I know the animal only lovers hate these threads. |
|
I have almost one baby! And, depending on how things go, I think we want either 2 or 3 total. |
I have 3, had always wanted 4, and had a stepson as well so I guess sort of had 4.
My three are all teenagers now, I had considered having another a few years ago and am really glad I didn't. LOL |
I had two - one homemade one imprted (no offense meant to anyone). We also looked into adopting again when the youngest went to college.
I was busy at work at the time and it never happened. We always wanted a huge family - now we have 4 huge dogs And the kids (25 and 30 ) fight over who has to be first to have a grand kid - so probably nothing there for a while. |
We have 6 children total...
3 Mine- two sons, one daughter 3 Step- two sons, one daughter (one of the step sons we raised also) Grandchildren: 6 boys 5 girls Oldest grandchild is 15 yrs, youngest 1 year. We have 11 Grandchildren in total so far....four of the children are finished having children and one is receiving his Master's Degree this summer and will be married 3 years, so who knows. Our youngest is not married and is only 22 so has a lot to do before he settles down...so maybe more grandchildren in the future. |
I have three, always wanted three. Love children and if money were no object would consider another.
That said, as I look back I realize that life is built for a family of four. Vacation packages. Restaurant tables. Rides at the amusement park. Decent gas-mileage vehicles. Hotel rooms. When you add the fifth person, your coordination of efforts doubles in everything you do. |
Welllllllllllllllll, I never quite know how to answer that question..... so here is the "score"
I have two biological children Married a man with three boys, spent 17 years raising them (they lived with us. So I have 3 "step" children Got divorced Hooked up with Doug who has 4 Children, but since we are not "married" I guess I'm not really their "step mother" so it's 4 children of my Significant Other So the number is 2, 5, or 9 depending how you look at it. I do know it's ALOT of Birthdays to remember and lives to keep track of!!!!!!!!! |
My count is easy: 2, a boy and a girl. No grandchildren yet. My son (the oldest) swears he'll be an uncle before he's a father, so we'll see.
We always wanted 3, but we got started late (wanted a house first) so we stopped when we had our daughter and I was 34. |
We have 4 - one daughter, 3 sons and 6 g/kids - 4 boys and 2 girls and an assortment of grandpets |
2 Son ages 24 and 22
1 Step Son age 27 1 Grandson 5 1 Grandaughter 7 weeks today 1 ? Haven't had the sonogram yet , due in September |
Started late too. I have two girls ages 14 1/2 and 12 1/2. October birthdays 3 days apart. I had the first one at age 35, and the second at 37. |
I started late, too , too! I didn't marry til I was 33! I have a son (who is adorable and SINGLE) age 23. I have daughter (who is adorable and SINGLE) age 22. Tony (my second husband) had never been married before, and doesn't believe he has any children. If I had married earlier, I would have loved to have 4 or 5 kids. But! I've got dogs and cats to make up the difference! I'm truly blessed |
I always forget the details of some of your lives, so I like hearing them again.
I was 110% that I'd never have more than 1. The thought of two made me want to kill myself. Then we moved here and all our friends [who are Mormon] have a million ...so they've made it seem so great and doable. They've pulled me in for sure. They've convinced my husband and I to go to their service a few times now, and they're just waiting for us to tell them we want to join their church. If they only knew how I yell at the guys from their church when they step on my husband's grass in the summer months when they're knocking on everyone's door. |
Are they all military? Or is there a big mormon population where you are?
So...Jo...now that you have 2...any more? |
both military and civilian and yes to very large population of mormons according to them.
There are 6 chairs at our table. I think they need to be filled. |
Well, can't believe I forgot to add:
I have one GRANDCHILD ON THE WAY In fact, I just got off the phone with my son who is headed to an appointment with his wife, for a 3D ultra sound, THE ONE THAT OFTEN DETERMINES SEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, in just a couple hours I might actually know if it's a boy or a girl. They keep threatening to keep it a secret but I can't believe they would do that to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I'd be terrible and pester them until it absolutely drove them bonkers b/c I'D ALREADY BE BONKERS NOT KNOWING THE SEX!!
The only bad thing about having mroe kids is the unknown. We have 2 healthy kids and feel truly blessed. While we'd love a kid that had some problems, we wonder if we're pressing our luck sometimes. Our governor here (who is supposed to be the hottest governor ...ever) just had her 5th child a few days ago, and he has down syndrome. |
I threatened them with more yellow and green baby clothes than they EVER wanted see if they didn't let me know the sex. WHich I may have already bought because there have been several sales I couldn't pass up............ |
Yeah, but how old is she? |
mid 40s I believe.
Quote: WHich I may have already bought because there have been several sales I couldn't pass up............
I'm not sure threatening to buy them more stuff will convince them. |
But how much GREEN can (should) one child have???????????????????
SURELY it is psychologically confusing to ones gender identity to have EVERYTHING green |
3 kids - the girls are twins and will be 24 next month
- son is 20 2 grandkids - age 5 yrs and 4 weeks I originally thought I wanted 4 - girl twins, then boy twins. Got the 1 boy, and we decided we were tempting the fates. We stopped! |
Three children for me, two girls and a boy, all 18 months apart. Samantha will be 6 in July, Megan turned 4 in February, and Brandon turned 2 in September.
We`re officially done! |
I have 3 of my own (2 boys 22 yrs & 21 yrs and 1 girl 17 yrs) and 1 step son (age 18). I was told by son #2 they are planning a family but won't start until after they come home from Hawaii in 3 yrs or so. My son is in the Navy. I can wait 3 yrs. I'm only 41. |

Wow! That was a switch Why do I feel that at age 34 I still have plenty of time? I'm just starting to feel like an adult. |
I have one son (26) and one Granddaughter, Kadie, who is 2 1/2. She is the apple of our eye!!
|
I can see why
I hate seeing pics like that b/c it makes me want a girl and I promised myself that I wanted to be a strictly boy house (and only female 4-leggeg ones). |
Well....lord knows I wanted to post all of her pictures...but I figured just one...for now!! Tee Hee
I just noticed your avatar. That's so cute. Is that a Corona?? (My Favorite). |
yes, hubby has to have one of those or a modela whenever he eats mexican. the pic is mandatory according to my husband.
this was our first ( looking back, i can't believe he was so small). |

Congrats!! You'll have to let us know how things went and lots of pics!!! |
I have two kids.
Ryan will be 10 yrs old in a few weeks (he is from my previous marriage) and Hayley is 3 yrs old. I always wanted two kids. A boy and a girl. I wanted the boy to be older so he could protect his little sister. |
barney1 wrote: I have almost one baby! And, depending on how things go, I think we want either 2 or 3 total.
Ditto! |
One of each 19 and 16 years respectively, girl and boy |
Wow--there are a lot of grandkids on the way on this board! |

So, what do you think? Am I too old to have one now at age 34? |
Nope! Not too old at all! People are still having babies well into their 40s these days. But, if you are seriously considering having a baby, you should probably start sooner than later, since the older you get, the more risks to mom and baby there are. |
Stacy wrote: Stacy wrote: Why do I feel that at age 34 I still have plenty of time? I'm just starting to feel like an adult. So, what do you think? Am I too old to have one now at age 34? No! Medically, I'm sure your pregancy would be higher risk than someone in their 20's, but IF hubby and I have children, we'll try for one around that age! |
People do it all the time!
However, I'd be very cautious and concerned if I waited too much longer, but that's just how I feel about having kids afters 35, |
I have two.
With a teen daughter acting up.... I would like to have 0 I always tell my hub we should have raised puppies. And I can not wait until the GRAND KIDS and they better be a handful |

I have a daughter 28 (had at age 27 thought I was too young) a son 25 (had him at 30 thought I was too old ) No one wants to have grand children so I guess I won't be posting about that!. |
Stacy wrote: Stacy wrote: Why do I feel that at age 34 I still have plenty of time? I'm just starting to feel like an adult. So, what do you think? Am I too old to have one now at age 34? Heck no Stacy you are not to old. My mother had 6 children and didn't start until she was 34...I was born when she was 37(4th). My youngest sis was born when Mom was 45...and we where all born healthy. With all the testing they can do now they can stay ahead of a lot of things that may come up. With each pregnancy there are risk no matter what the age of the Mom there are no gurantees. You can just hope for the best. Good luck with your decision! |
Wow, Helen! Your Mom was busy in a short time span. For the first time in my life, I've felt a biological clock ticking (probably for about 4 months now). I'm sure this is also due to the fact that I'm on a new med that is allowing me to feel better for the first time in my 34 yrs of life. The issue will be whether or not I want to get off the meds to get pregnant. I know the doctor won't want me on the meds to reduce potential for birth defects; however, I don't know how I'd get off them without being miserable again. The pregnancy will sound even less appealing to me. Maybe I need to keep working to raise some $ for a surrogate. Oh yea, and I don't I need to "do" something else more often |

No I wouldn't think so. My husbands mother had him at 45. She is a very energetic person though and could probably make a 2 year old feel tired. For some people I think 45 would be to old. Like me! |
Sorry, I turned this into a "should Stacy have a baby thread". Back to the topic Joaheyo originally posted. |
I don't care!! Let's talk about you.
j/k but I hope that whatever you decide, you just trust your gut. I think if you're meant to have children, God wouldn't give you what you couldn't handle as they say. |
I have three, all miracles as I was told I couldn't have any.
The oldest son is working full-time and working on his MBA. The middle child, our younger son, is working full-time and trying to decide if he really likes his job enough to keep it. If he stays in the current job, he will start grad school in next Fall. They share an apt. The youngest, our daughter, is graduating with Honors on May 9th! She is actually already working on her Masters - her major allows them to take the first year of physical therapy classes and have it count toward her bachelor degree. Saves us a year of tutition. I have a granddog and two grandcats. |
3 children and 3 grandchildren |
4 kids. 3 boys: 29, 25, 22. One daughter: 20. Oldest is thinking of going back to school (good plan); second born just returned from Afghanistan and is planning on resuming classes this fall. Youngest son will graduate this Dec. and hopefully will be going to grad school. Daughter is also pursuing her degree.
I always knew that I wanted to have children. At one point (when I was very, very young) I wanted a dozen. Then I did the math and changed my mind. Later on, 4 seemed like the right number. Which is where we ended up, athough frankly that wasn't really planned. But we're just as happy as if we had. |
I have 3 girls 1 boy, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandsons.
all my kids have a boy and a girl. but all boys on great grandsons. |
