Lambriars

There are good reputable breeders out there. There are also really bad ones. I don't think the good ones, should be punished for the bad ones.
If a good breeder cannot sell on the internet. How are they soppose to
sell them. If they don't want to sell to a broker or a pet store. I think it
is ridiculous to say don't buy off the internet. Most are selling there because they don't want to sell to people like Lambriars.

The operative word here is "reputable." Reputable breeders sell by reputation, which means their good name and referrals by satisfied buyers sell their pups. There's no need to find a mainstream outlet because they aren't pumping out tons of litters that they have to sell. Most good breeders have homes lined up before the litter is even conceived. It's pretty simple, really.
Most reputable breeders are a member of their country's breed club who usually have a referral system set up, even if it's only amongst themselves to pass puppy inquiries to each other. There are checks and balances set up within each club, to make sure a breeder is breeding ethically according to their standards.
That is not to say that reputable breeders do NOT sell on the internet, or in newspapers ads or whatever. I don't have a problem with that at all, if the proper screening is done of the buyers...vet references, home visits etc. ...The internet is just a tool, just like when the breeders have a website with an "Available" tag, or "Puppies" tag.

Actually, if OES puppies bred by good and reputable breeders were more commonly available then folks wouldn't have to go to pet stores and BYB's and crappy millers/brokers sellling off the web.

Let's say a breeder has homes lined up for 5 puppies, and the bitch has 9. The breeder plans on keeping 1, and has 3 left. Best to advertise them and sell them right away, so they can be placed at the 8 to 10 week age, then to have to hang onto them in the hopes that someone might call them..

As long as people are educated in what to look for in a breeder, then how they get that puppy should not be an issue.
If both my dogs had been killed in the car accident we had last summer, I sure as heck would have wanted another dog right away. Of cource I would go rescue, but for people who would want a puppy, they wold be looking on the internet right away. Doesn't make them an uneducated purchaser at all. Anxious, yes, but that is our society today. I want it NOW. And if a good breeder had some pups available, wow...That would be great.

I really think that some potential great homes are "stuck" buying from a second-rate breeder because good, healthy pups are hard to find. Make it easier and more people will be able to go through the recommended process, and quicker, and the BWB's and pet stores would loose there support.

I guess what I am trying to say is that the internet is not an evil place to buy puppies. It is a place where most crappy breeders sell thiers, but some good ones do, too...but not enough, in my opinion.

But companies like Lambriars, and other commercial breeders/brokers are definitley NOT the route to go.
Is anyone else wondering why we are suddenly getting this influx of posters proclaiming the "merits" of "less than" reputable breeders?
