Crazy about food
I have my OES now for a little over two month and I have not had a dog that is soooo crazy about food! She picks up the bird seeds that my parrots drop or tries to get out a piece of bread that is laying on the bottom of their cage under the grid, not talking about steeling anything that smells like food from the counter. We have lots of nut trees in our backyard so I constantly find her cracking nuts. Trying to eat anything without giving her some of it is just impossible. I will have a lot of training ahead of me, I believe:) New member |

Hello and welcome. My sheepie is incredibly greedy. She loves budgie seed, i cant throw bread out for the birds any more and she will pinch lettuce from the tortoise. She thinks she is constantly starving....  |
| Have you disparasitated her constantly?
I have a German Sheperd who was born with a deformation on her esophagus, she is always starving because she does not absorb nutrients like other dogs, so she has to eat more times a day in little portions. |
| We saw the vet two weeks ago to get her heartworm test done. It was negative (thank God) and while she was there, she 'volunteered' a stool sample. So I had it checked for worms as well. Nothing.
I was worried that she had worms, but now I think she is just greedy. I mean, she practically sticks her face in mine whenever I eat something. It doesn't matter what it is. We feed her ProPlan for sensitive stomachs (Salmon) and she gets more than what's recommended for her size. I just never seen a dog cracking nuts!!! |
| We are having the same problem with our baby boy of 6months. He is constantly after food, the more he eats the more he wants. It's not worms as he has been treated twice by our vet, his food is varied and plentiful so I'm sure that's not the problem. I don't remember our past sheepies being the same. At the moment he is on part puppy and part adult meals three times a day. It's a worry as we feel there is something wrong with him. |
