CHICKEN BONES

HELP

Sorry if you seen this b4 i have had a quick search but cannot find any thing.

Orion 6 months old has just (10 mins ago) raided the bin and eaten a whole chicken carcus. i chased him around the garden when i realised but he still managed to consume it. He didnt choke but i know they could splinter.

What should i do? Should i take him to the emergency vet?

thanks

At the very least, I would call your vet right away and see what they have to say.
Yes Call the vet!!! see what he says to you!!!!
Did you get any response?
Was told to keep an eye on him for 48hours if i sopt anything then to call the emergency vet and bring him in.

Watched him all night and touch wood hes his normal naughty self, scoffed him food down this morning, normal poo and at the moment hes play fighting with our other dog!

But its only 17 hours ago so i watching him like a hawk.

:!:
Fresh or cooked dry?? If it was fresh it might pass through with no problem. And even if dry it could go thru. Make sure your pup gets enough water to keep his kibble well soaked in his tummy and on it's passage thru and hopefully it will wash along any bones.
It was cooked. Just come back from Park where he was running around as normal chasing anythin that moved.

Afetr shouting at the whole family yesterday about leaving the bin easy to get too I dont think it will happen again
Keep an eye on your dog!

But now that you've had a chance to consult your vet I can give you good news that once my dog ate an entire chicken carcass and was just fine. He was an adult, but it was a big chicken.

I hope your situation works out just as well as ours did! I have my fingers crossed!
My 5-month pup ate a bunch of chopped bones a few weeks back. He was a little calmer the next day, and appeared to have some GI tract discomfort. The first day he threw up some pieces of bone and then some more pieces came out in his poo. Everything was back to normal the following day.
