it must be horrid though because they can hear and feel everything you are doing. When I do Summers ears.. almost every other day I wait until she is laying down and then do it really gently, wiping them with a baby wipe and trying to pull dead hairs out. She isnt that bothered now....she just looks at me as if "Go on then if you must!" |
I clean Taskers about every four days. I stand stradling him with us both facing the same direction. We do it so often that he is accustomed to it.
Are you pulling hair? If he is crying perhaps you are pulling too much at once. I only pull a couple starnds at time. Also, I use the solution before plucking any hair, I think when you pull the hair it makes the ear more sensitive and the solution burns. Try adding some gentle form of ear cleaning to your weekly routine and he will adjust. |
I pull Oliver's at each brushing, just touch-up so we don't have to pull a ton at once. He doesn't mind it at all. A soothing voice, Daddy petting his belly, and few treats is all it takes.
It will get easier. Just don't try to pull too much at one time. A few strands of hair at a time. An infection will make them much more sensitive too. |
Only pull a few at a time, he is not that furry there YET. He is just a suck, you should hear him at the vets (when he got his temp taken) BUT on the up note.... does not take alot to train him out of bad things. |
Like Ginny, I do not use the solution on the same day I pull the ear hair. It definitely burns where hair was plucked. I use the hair grip powder to pull, and then a couple of days later, I use the cleansing solution.
I don't know if it's Oscar deafness, or what, but he only requires plucking once every month or two, and there is never a ton of hair. Laurie and Oscar |
