Nigel is getting clipped.

I so wanted to wait and see if I could get through Summer with his coat, but that baby coat is making him so hot. Yes, hot...it was almost 90 degrees yesterday. He had the runs and seriously looked overheated.

My other concern was that I am leaving for 2 weeks...he needs daily combing with the transitional coat. I am leaving my husband and 2 teenage girls in charge. I would rather puppy cut him now than shave him later.

I love his beautiful coat...but at least most of the baby coat will go too. I may be able to start bathing him myself after this. I know...it will grow back. I would like to keep him long, but I always end up clipping them down this time of year. Someday when I move to a slightly cooler climate.

I will post pictures of my nearly naked sheepies soon. :(

I know, it hurts. It's like ripping off a band aid, though. Just do it and don't look back! (says the person who cried when her dog was clipped!)
It's hard at first. But, you'll adjust and then you may actually grow to prefer it. :)
I saw the pics Wendy! He looks great! He does look like a different dog though. I am sure he'll be happier. Especially since it's been so hot.
I will post them as soon as they are available... :lmt:

I remember feeling horrible when we had to clip Yuki down b/c I didn't trust my husband or the kennel while we were moving. Ugh... wish everyone was as responsible as me. 8) just kiddin ...kinda ;)
I had a preview of the pics. Wendy e-mailed me.
Awwww.....Nigel looks adorable! It looks like they did a nice job! Give him a big hug for me Wendy!
I will Amber...I hated to do it...but he feels better. He is still pretty solid and short-backed. If only he would stop peeing on his front feet. :D
That's a good haircut. For short, it's a really good length.
I have been using the same groomer for most of the last 18 years. I ALWAYS tip her...and she goes above and beyond with Nigel. Half the time she tries to dry him he gets scared and pees or gets the runs. He is afraid of the noisy dryer she has...she he gets the cage dryer. At least it will be easier this length.
