Congrats on your training success! |
Good for you! Now, just a little secret, our beloved fuzz balls go thru a "brain dead" period where all the commands you thought they knew suddenly disappear for a bit. Be patient, they come back........it's like the "terrible twos" with children, they are just testing you. |

Them big brats... thats not nice at all!! lol |
Congrats on your training success so far! Another secret - on top of the testing period for "terrible twos," beware of the "teen" years! Persistance and consistency are the answers. |
Cassie is such a beautiful girl and smart, too! I bet she'll do very well in a class. |
Awww loved reading your update on Cassie and it's a testament of your love for her and all your good works. She's been working hard to make you proud of her. What a sweetheart!
Way to go Cassie!!! Marianne and the boys |
We have another test for Cassie to go through,we adopted a senoir Italian Greyhound. She is about 15lbs or so, and VERY scared. Cassie I know just wants to play, and be friends, but we all know they do not understand how big they are, or there own strength. She ended up nipping her at our introduction! Things were going very well, my fiance sat on the couch with Gracie, and I slowly let Cassie walk up, sniff, and say 'hi'. Gracie scared anyway, was nervous, quivering, and unsure of what this huge thing was, just sat there. Cassie, then nipps her, on her neck I believe it was. We told her no, I had her back off a little bit, and then we brought Gracie into our room whereshe could relax by herself, and kinda pull herself together. I am getting with a trainer I acttually just met that lives down the street from us on our walk lastnight, I am very excited, she told me she is on call and is usually available in the evenings, and would help me with her. Now I dont have to pay high training cost, AND hopefully I make a friend out of this, cant wait, and I'll keep you posted. |
Try walking them together, uprights in the middle, dogs on either side, dogs level or behind the humans. This reinforces the uprights are boss and the dogs are equal members of the upright's pack. Since Cassie is young and strong, she might get a long walk first to tire her out then the family together. Knowing young sheepdogs though, hard to tire out when they have play on their mind. |
