We originally took him into the program due to his family giving him up after they had a second child. He was adopted at the age of 10yrs to a wonderful woman that specialized in adopting older senior dogs & taking care of them. She fell on hard times medically herself & being a citizen of Belgium, had to move back there for healthcare reasons & turned Ben back into TOES. After spending two months with TOES, Ben went to a new home with a couple who were retired photographers in Gatlinburg, TN. Their daughter, a wonderful person, has kept in touch, always giving updates on Ben. The daughter, Teri, called Monday night. Her mother (Ben's owner) is in intensive care at a local hospital & not expected to make it. Her father is almost totally dependent on her mother & his care now falls to Teri who has MS & also a daughter who's challenged, not severely but somewhat. They can't continue to keep Ben. Ben is now 14yrs old, having hip issues & doesn't move around too well. Through no fault of his own, Ben is now in urgent need of a new home. We must have a foster home by this weekend. If you are interested in fostering or better yet, adopting Ben and giving him a retirement home to live out the rest of his days, please PM me or contact Belinda Lamm, Placement Director for TOES, at plamm@triad.rr.com. This is a pic of Big Ben from about two years ago when he was last in TOES care. As you can see, in spite of his age, he's still got spunk and is a bit mischevious. |

Oh how sad |
Oh, how sad Poor Ben! I wish I could take him |
With you in Virgina I bet we could make arrangements for someone to meet you halfway or get a transport team together! |

But being 8 months pregnant and having 1 dog and 3 cats that I have to take care of all by myself limits me a little! Just not the time to test out fostering |
Update:
Ben has been reunited with his original family. When contacted about Ben's situation, they jumped at the chance to bring him home again. They were overjoyed to have him back and Ben was glad to see them, too. Happy Ending. |
Wow--good news for Ben! I wonder if he remembers them from 4 years ago? I think it'd be so strange to have a dog, then not have him, then have him back! |
I am glad this worked out. Ben sounds like a great sheepie. |

Billy got in trouble for this too. lol I told him Harley could not be left out and trusted. He had garbage strewn all over the house. |
