I'm a Marathon Runner!

I started running about 14 years ago. Did the whole cross-country and track thing, but after college decided to take my hobby to a new level. In Oct. of 06 I ran my first marathon in Kansas City. I thought that would make me a marathon runner. But, after a lot of thought, I decided I had to do at least two to be considered a marathon runner.

I completed my second marathon on Sunday in St. Louis. I achieved my time goal of under 4 hours 30 minutes. And more importantly, I think I am addicted. The feeling when I cross the finish line makes me forget about the 6 months of pain and frustration that it took to get me there.

Next year...Chicago.

:clappurple: I am so impressed! Congrats!!!

My trainer started me running last Friday. I ran 3 laps and was in pain for 4 days

Let me know when the Chicago race is. Maybe we can get some Chicago Sheepie people to greet you, and bring you pasta!!

Congrats again!@
Woohoo! That's awesome!

I know what you mean about addicting. I did the whole cross country and track thing too, and afterwards it was nice to have a goal--something to accomplish and make training seem worth it. The longest I've done is a half marathon, but I'm thinking of doing a marathon after this baby.
Congrats!!

Let me know if you do Chicago and we'll come out and cheer you on!
Congrats!!!!! That was a great run!!!! I wish I had known you would be down there..I would have cheered you on...although I probably did--I was clapping and yelling for everyone that passed the finish line!!! That was amazing!!!!!!

......I was there cheering one of my daughter's friends that was running!! (She did the 1/2 marathon ) It was Heart's big intro into crowds/noise and total bedlam!!!!!!...alot of dogs...only 1 SHEEPIE~~~~~

It was a beautiful day...one of the few here this year so far!!!!

CONGRATS AGAIN!!!!!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
Is Heart in show coat? If so, I'm pretty sure I saw you! It was before mile 9 I know, and the sheepie was walking along the side of the road. You should have heard the runners: "Oh, I love those dogs", "what a beautiful dog"...

It took all I had not to stop and hug the sheepie I saw, so BEAUTIFUL!
Congrats!! I can't imagine how much effort goes into the preparation to run a marathon.
Yep!!! That was her (guess you didn't notice ME!!!!) (cough, cough)

....We did have a couple runners come out of the run and just go crazy about her!!!

We saw a group of kids with hearing problems and a couple kids who used wheelchairs..She just sat there and loved ...loved...loved..the attention!!! (Great Therapy dog training at events like this...)

I was just amazed at all the runners!!! and how strong they all were passing the finish line.. I am in awe!!!
Congratulations. Perhaps we could do a replay at Sheepiepalooza Friday evening from the Warm-up (Ellisville) to the Diamond Inn (just 15 miles).
GREAT IDEA!!! George!!!! I'll be at the finish cheering...with Heart~!~~~~~
I too did the distance events in track and cross country - in high and college. However, I NEVER have considered running a marathon!
I would keel over if I ran more than a mile now...that is so depressing...
but - I think you are awesome and go go go!!! :go: :go:
