Luca's show brag

Hey everyone,

This weekend I was pretty busy but decided to enter Luca on Sunday in a show a few hours away just so that I could get back into the whole grooming/handling thing before the summer show season really picks up. I think our last show together was in Feb! So I was a little rusty.

Luca ended up with a Group 1!!!! I was so excited...but frazzeled because Herding was the last group and I had about 2 minutes to prep him for the BIS ring!!! AAAHHHHH. 8O

At any rate he was well behaved....as well behaved as Luca gets and we had a great afternoon. :D

I also used this show as an opportunity to train Will as a ring side assistant...he did pretty well!

Good Job Luca.......like you groomed yourself! These little surprises are double fun. Glad Will is a help, not a distraction. I'm sure Luca got a big happy time after his work.

Precious pixs with the kids in Central Park!
Yippee! :D :D

Good job, Luca and Sunny.
Welcome Will to the ringside assistant club!

I peeked at the NY pictures - very cute.
Alright Luca!
How come you didn't tell anybody about your trip to Pittsburgh?
YEAHHHH LUCA!!!!
GREAT JOB LUCA!!

I was waiting to hear what the rest of the results for the specialty were so that I could report everything...and then forgot.. :?

But yes, with the breeder he went BOB at one of the Pittsburgh Specialties...so that was very exciting! Sadly, I could not make it to partake in the fun. Luca's younger bother Isaac also got at least WD 3/4 shows that weekend I think???

Very exciting end of March/beginning of April.

Yes, I did groom myself. I have been fortunate enough to learn from some great groomers and after 5 years of practice I have become farely decent, but am always working to improve!!!!

Thanks, I have some Westminster pictures as well but I think Will took about 200!! So I have been trying to sort through them to pick my favorites. I will post them this week...I hope! :D

Thanks Dawn... BTW- I LOVE that Sheepdog jacket baby Will is sporting!!!!!

My Will did a great job, not only does he carry things around, he also reminds me to smile :D

Look for more NYC pics later this week...I am learning to use my Macbook and have not yet mastered the art of photo editing!!!! That and Will did took a total of I think at least 200 pictures while we were there if not more.
Geez - I really should check my voice mail now and again!

Nice job, kiddo! Wish I could have been there.

Sorry Toby :( How many points does he have so far, or have you just started showing him?

You are right Isaac is GINORMOUS!!! He gets that from his father. He finished his Canadian CH last year and is now working on his American CH. I think Alan, his owner, must be feeding him some sort of dog miracle grow because every time we see him he has a MASSIVE amount of coat!

I will be routing for Toby to kick some butt in his upcoming shows :cheer:

I didn't think Isaac seemed that big when I saw him at the national. Hairy, yegads, yes.

Mandy - you have to realize it's basically like competing with a special in the classes - he's had nothing better to do with his life than grow hair. Alan used to do agility with his previous OES and I keep telling him that he and the dog need a life, but he keeps finding reasons why not to, so, there you have it - you were competing against a nice moving pile of hair.

Mind you, he is bigger than what we're used to. Knowing the ginormous (thanks, Sunny! ) genes are back there and then breeding one of his (normal size) sisters to a (normal size) European import - and some of those dogs are reportedly ginormous as well - I sweated a bit over that litter. Can you imagine Buck's stubborn streak, Mad's intelligence, Coco's appetite -- all in a super-sized package??!! 8O 8O No thanks.

Sybil measures in under the AKC agility cut-off so is happy to say she'll be able to jump in the 20" class with the girlie dogs so she can watch the boys in the 24" class. She is, of course, rooting for Toby to finish his breed CH. But mainly so she can pounce on him and pull all of his hair out at the national.

So much for girlie

Well, next time condense your message or make the salient points in the first 30 seconds, which is pretty much all I have the patience to listen to   I didn't even realize he was entered yesterday!

I didn't think Isaac was that huge at Nationals either.... and he was getting groomed ( massively!! ) on the table right next to me. I saw how he looked (before - with all that hair) - and promptly got Erica to sit and watch the project. :D :D :D
There was a 2nd dog's worth of hair on the floor!

Dawn and Kristine...I am a midget...as such any dog in which I have to stretch or find a step stool to help trim because of all the hair they have I think is ginormous. He is maybe an inch taller than Luca AND has buckets of hair... Is he truly ginormous...NO but to others in the classes competing against him, I can see their perspective.

And yes he did have at least a 2nd dogs worth of hair...my eyeballs almost fell out of my head when I saw him...Alan was so afraid to trim him wrong he didn't cut any hair off of him for a number of months!!!!

He's in full coat, is fully mature, and most OES working towards thier CH these days are between 12mos to 2years...finishing at the latest by the age of 2.5yrs old(from what I have noticed)....Most of these dogs haven't completely filled out yet or had the time to grow as much coat.

If I was in the same class I would think he was big; as big as a special which would make sense because most of our breeds specials are between the ages of 3-5yrs. He is 3.5yrs old.

Just thinking about grooming him makes me tired 8O
Great job!!!!! :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
Maybe they just had a really big table because we were set up perpendicular to them and all you could see was big dog and occassionally a hand could be seen coming up over a shoulder. You could not see the people on the other side of him. It was actually kind of funny to watch.

Toby said to tell Sybil that if he can just get that last major, he would be thrilled to roll around on the ground with her whenever she wants.
