I weigh only 44 pounds and I've tested heartworm positive. I know that my days are numbered but I am so enjoying having a full stomach, a nice soft, warm place to lay my old bones down and fresh, clean water to drink. You see, it's been a long time since someone cared anything about me. I was left outside for years under the hot sun and during the rainy, cold nights. The nice lady that rescued me and my 2 adult babies said she must have been bitten by mosquitoes about 40 times on her visit with me the day she took me home. As you can see, I was terribly neglected and I can't understand what I did to ever deserve this... I am a very sweet girl who just wants a little love and compassion. My new family at Heart-to-Heart say I deserved so much better and are angry with the man who did this to me. I will live out my life, however long that may be, on the Heart-to-Heart ranch. If the time comes where it will be kindest for me to go to sleep, they have promised to do this for me... the final gift of kindness.
11-22-04 My first night at the ranch... the horrible, filthy mats have been cut off my bottom and I've got a full dish of food. I feel I must really be in heaven.  Poor Maggie but at the same time I hope this old girl gets the love and care she deserves for the rest of her life.
Thankfully there are people in the world whom help animals to offset those that are unusually cruel to them...you just wish you didn't hear stories like this anymore. This one certainly was a heartbreaker and so glad Heart to Heart made a difference. Way to go you guys!!! |
