We have a lack of deer(can not tell by what they leave in my yard) in the area and these cougars and coyotes are going after cats dogs BIG dogs seen it myself. Cougars are even going up to dogs in kennels trying to get in. Someone went to snap a pic to scare it off. Kinda worried about the kids. |

There are TONS of coyotes this year around here too, and a cougar killed a dog not far from us and then was killed.
I'm wondering if there will be black bears in people's garbage this year also. There is so much snow there won't be natural food sources available to them for a while yet. |
This sounds scary! I hope you guys are safe! |
We have coyotes too. They haven't been too bad so far. But, every year there are more. They are ranging through the wetlands behind us, as they are all interconnected by drainage ditches and little creeks.
We are almost to lambing time - I hope things go well. One of Todd's coworkers had a coyote come up into his yard and nab his cat! |
We have coyotes and bear. I have to be very careful when I am out after dark with the boys to stay in the light of the house. Some nights you can hear the coyotes howl all night. The joys of living in the country. |
Just coyotes. Bears closer to the mountains, but still in the city........in late summer/early fall if snows were insufficient for food. They come in and eat the people's fruit tree fruit. Won't be a problem this year as we've had enough snow. Problem might be young males getting the boot by their Moms.
Cougars are also in the mountains, but not a huge problem........thankfully. A coyote you can scare, a cougar........they are just too smart and would probably remember the personal affront and come back. |
, I have seen one once. We also have a Bob cat I have heard him scream when my lab barked at him. He was behind the barn near the stream. None of the hunters in my family or friends that hunt believed I heard a big cat, but a police officer and neighbor have both sited him/her. Lots of deer and small animals to get . My neighbor locks his lambs up at night but a couple of years back a calf was killed. I do like to hear the coyote at night. The bob cat screaming I can do with out!!!!!!! |
We were out walking by baseball diamonds I turned around there was a coyote chasing a big dog. I blew my whistle and he took off the opposite of us |
I haven't seen our coyotes yet but our neighbour said they have seen them in OUR yard before we moved in! We have an old shed at the back and this weekend we found out who lives there! It's a fisher cat!!!!
We live right by the woods though. |
Ok I give up...whats a fisher cat??? |
A fisher is a member of the weasel family. |

The coyotes are horrible this year! normally my guys just sleep thru them on the full moon sing a thon's....... but last week 4 nights in a row they were in full voice waking EVERYONE up....... made the hair stand up on my arms..... they have a tendency to jump our split rail and come into our back yard. (Not allowed to have a full privacy fence, just LOVE these HOA's NOT!!!) sounded like the pack has grown to around 18 or so now. You oopen up a blind and they stop........... then 4 minutes later they are back to serenading us..... gives me the willies........ i tell the kids to not even THINK about going out........ to go back to sleep. |
