Echabod

I have decided to start a new thread about Echabod in this section, as he is no longer in danger.

Hubby took Echabod to the vet, and he is healthy! He has a minor case of round worms, and received his first treatment today. He got checked for worms, heartworm, and received all vaccinations, and can you believe it, the bill was only $25!

Mr. Vet: "You've got yourself a really good dog".

No car sick on the 300 mile drive, no biting, snapping, growling (even when getting blood drawn), does okay on a leash, no jumping on people, and seems to do fine with other dogs.

Hubby dropped Echabod off at the boarding facility this evening. We will be visiting him this Saturday to take pictures and play.

Heather and I have spoken, and if we cannot find him a home between now and the weekend of April 5, he will be taken to Chicago. The details are not worked out yet, but we still need transport from St. Louis to Chicago if possible. Air travel might be too stressful on him at this time, especially since he will be getting neutered in the very near future. If anyone can help transport, we would really appreciate it!

Thanks for all that spoke up about donating, which we might solicit once we get a better handle on the situation .

Let's all pat ourselves on the back for a great job, well done. 4Sophie, you were right, he's a special one! :cheer: :go:

Imagine this treasure was almost lost. He sounds pretty close to perfect.
I know he will make someone a really great family member!
He will bring much joy to whoever is lucky enough to adopt him.

Thank you so much for springing him!

I am walking around w/ this stupid smile on my face :D :D :D

Gosh. this is wonderful :D :D :D :D
Jcc9797 - Thank you again and again. I wanted this one to make it so bad. I wish I could have him. An instinct just told me that he is meant to do something special. He has already. He has bonded all of us, taught us the world is a better place and I bet there is much more to come!
This is Hubby I guess what I'm called around here.

That dog is awesome, he's a little skiddish when he first meets people which makes me think his owners abused him, but once he realizes that you mean no harm and that you just want to love on him he does really well. I put him in a dog crate at first but I couldn't move it so he could see out the front window so I just opened the crate up and he just walked to the front of it and put his head under my armpit to see me. I pet him for a lot of the trip and he did really well. When we stopped at the vet we had a bit of a wait so I was petting him some more, he I noticed has the sheep dog ability to find a way to his back so you can pet his belly, and I pet his belly most of the time at the vet place.

He is really well tempered I don't know if its because he's afraid or what, but at the vets office even when he was getting poked and prodded he didn't put up a fight or snap or even growl, I don't think I heard one peep out of the dog the 10 hours I was with him. He is going to make someone a really awesome companion.
Where does one get a hubby like you ? :D
Mine is a good guy, but wouldn't drive 10hrs to pick me up
Thank you for rescuing Echo!
You will be now be known aa "hero" on the forum :clappurple:

Thank you!
Thank you "hubby" for helping ! You are a gem (my hubby is pretty good too we are going to foster 3 12 wk old puppies GSD mixes) so lets hear it for the "hubbies" :clappurple:
I have been watching all this unfold from down under and you guys are just unbelievable! Well done. everyone and especilly Echabod! :yay:

Aida,George and Rosie
Jennifer- you and your husband did such a good job, and I'm so glad everything has worked out so far! Post pictures when you get a chance, I'd love to see the little guy!

My suggestion would be to post on Craigslist and put some flyers up at the boarding facility and see if you can find a home for him in the area. Ive had some incredibly quick adoptions that way!

If he still doesn't have a home by the 5th and the Airedale rescue woman can give him a ride to Morris that would be ideal. Otherwise I think I would be able to drive to St Louis if I could get some help with gas money. (I'm a poor student!)
Thanks to everyone who offered to make donations to the Echabod rescue. If anyone would still (read this as a begging, whiney :plead: voice) like to donate, please donate to Heather's rescue group. I'm sure you can PM her, and she could give you further details. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, we all know how expensive a sheeper can get! As a bonus, I'm 99.9% sure the donation can be used come next tax season.
Does Heather's rescue group have 501(c)(3) status?
I know that FINO, the rescue group from Florida that aided in his spring, has offered their tax ID number for anyone who would want to use it. 4Sophie has that information.

Hi,

I've been following the story of this wonderful boy but hadn't yet posted. I just wanted to offer my heartfelt thanks to all those involved for helping.

You are all wonderful! :clappurple:

Marianne
I would also be willing to make the drive (or help cover fuel costs) from St.L to Chicago if no one else is available or able to do so.
Any updates on this boy?
I posted some pics of Echabod in the pictures section.

Echabod is doing great. He is still at the boarding facility, hubby will be visiting him either tonight or tomorrow. We had to give him some time for his tail to heal. He gets too excited when he sees hubby, gets that tail flying, and re-opens the bite wound  .

If we can't find him an adoptive home before April 5, Echabod will be neutered, then traveling to Chicago. I have a marathon in STL that weekend, and Rick has so graciously volunteered to drive him to Chicago, if Heather is not able to. I believe Heather will be his foster mom.

Finding Echabod a HOME would be ideal though. If anyone knows of someone looking to adopt a great dog, please direct them to Echabod. He is UTD on all shots, has a clean bill of health, and will be neutered.
hi,
If you email me some photos & bio I will post him on our website http://www.oesrescuenetwork.org/
