He has in the last couple of days taken to burying his poops, covering them in a heap of gravel very much the way our cats do in our borders. He used to leave them and this made collecting them for the bio dog loo quite simple, now as you can imagine they are encrusted with gravel chippings. When out for his walks he never makes any attempt at covering them he just does his business then wants to move on leaving me to scoop them up. Is this a common behaviour for an OES or is my pup having an identity crisis? |

I have no idea if other OES (or other dogs) engage in this behavior, but I wanted to say hi when I saw your screen name: I have an Archie, as well. His proper name is Archimedes but Archie is what suits him! |
Silly Archie. Maybe you could train him to a big litterbox indoor? Yeeooow, maybe not. Sure is considerate he's tending his own garden. |
I don't think I've ever seen a dog cover their poo. Interesting.
Beau does wipe his paws after he does his business and sometimes throws grass up in the air as he does it. But, he's never attempted to cover his poop. Side note: I saw an advertisement the other day in a gardening magazine for products that help with pet waste removal. There was one to prevent urine spots on the grass and there was one for an aresol spray can called POOP FREEZE and solidifies the dog poop for easier pick up. |
Mine don't cover their poo, but they do attempt to lay on the back of the couch. Bad monster kitty! |
This is really funny! I've never heard of a dog covering poo like this. Mine both wipe their paws and spray grass/dirt over poo but that's to do with scent glands... |
My OES acts like a cat. He likes to pounce when he is playing. It's really cute but I've never seen him cover his poo... Maybe i'll keep my eye out for that. |
