You get training for th elife of the training facility - these one cost places often go bankrupt. I'd see what the financial statements said if it were me and what contingencies if they do close. That said I spend $400 in about 6 months of training so if they last a year you would be ahead. |
Sometimes it depends upon the dog. Our first sheepie, Quincy, was a very strong, very stubborn, very large (115 lb) knucklehead. I took him for private lessons at a very no-nonsense training facility, one that breeds and trains GSD for police depts all over the country. That type of training worked well for him.
When we got Oscar, and saw his personality, I knew that he needed something different, something all about positive reinforcement, so I looked around and found another trainer. What I liked about her was her ability to try new tactics when Oscar wasn't getting something. Not the "my way or the highway" approach of our first trainer. Our private lessons here run $40 per hour, and we trained once a week for five months, so $400 was half of what I spent, with no lifetime re-training. Laurie and Oscar |
