OES in some countires (where it is not banned) have theit tails docked.
This should be done within a few days after they are born. Many OES have tails in the countires where docking is illegal. Both ways they are pure bred. |
It's hard to tell for sure some times. With rescue dogs in the US, you always suspect a mix if the tail is left on. I know one OES x Setter mix locally. His owners had both him and a brother. The brother looked more like a setter. The boy I'm thinking of looks like a (poorly bred) OES. Enough so that he could be ILP'd (no, I'm not condoning that). It was an oops litter I'm told, yet the "breeder" had the puppies who looked like OES docked and the setter resembling ones kept their tails. Interesting approach.
