I'm going to go buy some different food today and I was just wondering in general, as well as how long I should try out a new food before determining whether or not it's helping... |

Every time we changed foods, my vet wanted me to wait a full month for us to see how it worked out. Remember though, the reason we were switching foods was because of Oscar's IBD, not necessarily skin issues, as they were secondary concern.
Having said that, Oscar would start chewing his paws and biting at his flanks about 15 minutes after eating ANY Eukanuba food. We stopped that immediately, and tried something else. Laurie and Oscar |
Our vet said to wait a while, more like 2-3 months. I'm still waiting... |
Our vet also says 2 months to REALLY know although sometimes I'm forced to change b/c it's obvious it's not sitting well with the dog. |
Thanks! I guess I'll just see how it goes with him and just be thinking in the 1-3 month timeframe! I hope this food works. I feel bad, I really wanted to buy the Eagle Pack, but it was like $50 a bag, and I just can't do that right now. I hate that money is a factor in my pet's health, but it is. I was thinking of buying it just this once and seeing if it helped, but then if it did, then what, if I couldn't afford another bag!
Do you think I should stop giving him his morning 1/2 Milkbone? I was going to replace it with a carrot. The only reason I'm hesitant to stop giving it, is that I don't want to change more than one thing at once, so I won't know if maybe it was JUST the Milkbone or the food and Milkbone, or the food... |
I would only change one thing at a time, Steph, so you'll know which thing it is that helped or didn't help. |
Yuki only got irritated when she would get my husband's morning veggies (carrots and berries) so be careful adding anything other than "that food." ...but you may already know that's not the problem!
How about dog food for a treat? Yummmmm.. |
