As I'm sitting here on this cold and dreary night...

My thoughts turn to spring. I'm almost looking forward to muddy paws x2. I want to walk outside without putting on 20lbs of winter clothes and boots that clomp clomp when you walk. I want to hear the birds sing and smell the flowers again. Is it too early to start talking about Sheepiepalooza?? :D :D

I long for spring...

Me too....

I was putting some rubbish out today when I saw lots of coloured buds starting to appear in the garden.

I love this time of year, it's the start of lighter nights, warmer days (fingers crossed for those of us in the UK  ) and the garden back to being in full bloom.

Its the best time of year for me!
Yea!! Greg & I just had pancakes & coffee sitting in the sun outside 8)
NEVER too early to start talking about........'Palooza!!!!! ...
No sign of spring here, snow, snow and more snow with a few bits and pieces of ice thrown in
I think most of us "northerners" are at the end of our proverbial rope winter-wise. Everybody's dragging, crabby. Being frozen and having dogs that don't really have an outlet for their energy thanks to the ice gets old REAL fast.

BUT - I did see my first sign of spring: the trees are starting to set buds. I'm not at a point where I actually BELIEVE they'll follow through at this point, but you have to wonder if maybe that know something we don't (like this ice will melt before the 4th of July...Maybe  )

We need something to look forward to that is a little closer than Memorial Day weekend...

How about a general Milwaukee get-together at some FENCED dog park to celebrate the Vernal Equinox, or what is unoffically known as the first day of Mud Season?

Even though that is a Thursday this year, I propose that we plan to get togther somewhere that Saturday, March 22 (or Sunday if that works better for more people) and celebrate spring.

If we have to do so in 2 feet of snow and windchills of -10F, so be it.

I know at least three other local OES people who need a reason to believe this winter will end. Maybe we could entice some of our Northern IL people to join us as well. We could have quite the gathering.

Anybody game, or are we too frozen to even contemplate this??

Shall I post pictures of the daffodils & irises blooming in my yard? Will that help you know that Spring is coming soon? :P

Tammy, those are beautiful :D and evil  all in the same breath!!!

We are getting snow again as I sit here. The high tomorrow is supposed to be only in the teens!!! :( As much as I love the winter sports, it really really is time for a change. Enough already!

What she said!

Yellow daffodils and the reticulata have always been a favorite spring combo of mine. They are gorgeous, but it's still hard knowing we don't have a prayer of seeing anything like that for at least a month.

And, of course, when we finally do, I will be battling the Che monster in making sure he doesn'tg get to them first!!! 8O

Heaven save me from gardener wannabe sheepdogs...

May spring come to you quickly. Judging from my allergies to elm and juniper, spring is coming quickly here! Dogs are covered in bud scales from some tree........I could look more carefully.......so something is opening. At least cottonwood is easy to spot, they virtually glue their scales to the dogs' coats. Still snow forecast for mtns. just east of town, maybe we'll squeeze out a few drops of rain down here in the valley. Moisture always welcome in the desert.
Tiny white crocus are already blooming here in Cincinnati and my pussy willow trees are starting to bud.
My husband takes Phoebe walking through a wooded area near our home nearly every day. Yesterday she came back soooo muddy. Last night it was into the bathtub for her for a foot and face washing.
You can remind me how evil I was next winter when I'm whining again about wanting to see snow.

It's a beautiful spring-like day here...blue skies, no clouds, 60 degrees. I wish it would last. But, March is notoriously fickle, so we'll just have to wait and see what she has in store for us this year.

In the meantime, I'll send some warm southern breezes up your way. 8)
Tammy, didn't you tease all the northerners last year with pictures of beautiful spring plants while they're still wallowing in snow drifts?

Did you get that storm last night too?
Sending you more snow..........missed us, but awful just outside of town to north and east. Low pressure is all bundled and ready to swing up to the NE, fully charged with moisture. Enjoy!
I want the snow and cold to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

unfortunately it's really warm here now :( I fear the warmer months, but we don't have A/C.

Yeah, I did. Those actually are the pics from last year, but it looks the same right now.

We did get a good storm on Tuesday night. It was so nasty out, I didn't want to leave the house.

But, it's beautiful today. Sunny & 65. 8)
its full bloom here too...our "mountains" are beautiful and green...it wont stay that way once the super heat hits...but right now its just lovely....

my iris's havent bloomed yet though...still waiting on those..another week or 2....
I would be totally up for a mini sheepiepalooza at a fenced in dog park. I love our dog park at minooka park in waukesha. We would be available the afternoon of the 22nd of March (I have to work in the am). There is a small fee to get into the park but it goes towards maintaining the dog park....which is fabulous. Let me know what you wisconsinites/illinoites think.

I think it sounds fantastic! Am passing the info on to WI rescue list to see who bites for starters, but count me and a bunch of mine in!
