| When Jil lost Belle a few years ago, I remember her telling me how much it helped to read all the thoughtful posts from everyone on the forum and I really didn't understand how it could help.
Now I do. Thank you everyone for your sweet posts, PMs, e-mails and phone calls (even though I'm not up for talking yet). You guys really are awesome and I don't mean that in a generic way-- this is such a great group of people. Even after everything was over this morning, I thought about you guys first, letting you know and sharing with you because I knew you'd understand. It helps more than I can tell you to have you guys around. |

Knowing it is time is small consolation to you now. But, thankfully we have this option with our dogs. Seeing Lucy in pain, lost and confused is no way to live. After a great and long life, she can thank you for this last thing. Hopefully soon you can look back and smile and tell stories of Lucy. |

| Oh Jill, I am so sorry for you and James. As you know many of us on here have experienced this horrible pain before and when we lose a "member" of our OES family like your sweet Lucy we feel bad for you and her. We are all here for you and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
It never feels like the "right time" even though you knew it was. Lucy was very lucky to have you as her mom and she knew it. The boys are going to miss being bossed around too - include them in the hugs from me to you. Take care.

| I am just now seeing this thread and want to add my sympathy and support to all that has already been said. I am awed by the amazing care you gave her, particularly towards the end when it gets so much more complicated. It is so hard to say goodbye but at least the happy memories will be with you always. I wonder what the boys will do without the bosslady to keep them inline.
