Hey! Here's a quick update on my hunt for an OES.

Hey, I know I haven't been on for a LONG time, and probably none of you remember me, but I was here a while ago, because I planned on getting an OES... I then decided I'd like a border collie, but before I found the perfect BC, a GSD found me, who needed a good loving home, and taking in from being tied outside all the time... So, now rather than the OES I wanted, or the BC I later decided on, I have a german Shepherd.

I just wanted to let you all know how my situation went, and to thank you all for the help you were when I was looking around for an OES.

Congratulations! It is good to have an update. There's no rule that you have to have an OES to participate here although I gather there are some active GSD forums that you may naturally prefer . . .
Congrats on finding a new dog - and yay! to your new dog for finding you!!!
Sometimes we think we have a plan, but then fate intervenes. :D
Do you have pictures???
Congrats! :D
Thats great news! Congrats.. and THANK YOU so much for the update! I'ts great to know you are giving the GSD a good home, well done! :D
Well done you on having the GSD. Only dont tell my hubby as he wanted a GSD this time, but we found a sheepie first.....
Not a bad choice in a breed. They are great dogs!!!! At least you stayed in the herding group :)
Try germanshepherds.com (did I get it right this time Ron??)
Thanks for popping back in to update us. :D Congrats on adopting a GSD. They have a lot of fans on this forum, too. :D By all means, stop by anytime and be sure to post some pictures of your GSD doing agility. :P
Well, I hadn't planned on a GSD. I was looking at BC breeders, and rescues, then a "friend" of mine on a whim, said "I'm getting a GSD puppy - TOMORROW!" They brought the GSD home, and after like a week, they had her tied outside because she was "crazy in the house!" So, I went to meet her, and we sorta bonded right away. I didn't want to, but did, and I spent the next 2 or 3 months begging my parents to let me get her... They did, and we now have a great indoor GSD... :) (Her first owner - my firend got her at 7 months - was an idiot. Left her in a crate all the time! For so long, that she out grew the crate, and her ears didn't come up, because they didn't have space, and the cratlidge(sp) broke...

Anywho, here's Bella! (She came with the name. I hate it, far too girly for her big goofy self.)

Here she is when she was at my "friends" place...(Me giving her the only training she had at that home - and the only attention!)

And to now, with us.. Happy, and loved.. (And going through first grade obedeince, where she picked up a wee aggression issue... grrrr)

Enjoy!
Looks like she's having lots of fun in the snow :D
Great pictures!!
My 1st dog of my own after I graduated from college was a GSD named Jenny. She was great - we had lots of fun together. We did obedience trials and she also was a therapy dog.

Good luck with Bella - she looks like she will be a good dog to work with!
Yeah, I should have fun with her... So long as I can get the aggression underhand... We're going to be starting Agility in May, and we're starting second grade obedience next week (tonight is our first grade "graduation!")...

She's a ball, and I think would be VERY good at agility, but not unless she can focas and NOT want to eat the other dogs.
Your GSD is beautiful. I am so happy that you where able to resue her. I love your Mini Aussie, I have two Aussie's myself....I just adopted Asia an 8 mts old similar situation to your GSD.

Best of luck!
She is beautiful. German shepherds needs lots of socialization and work!! They need a job (yep agility) take her as many places as you can, meet and greet other humans and dogs. GSD's tend to get a little doggie aggressive (I adopted one she is OK now but could eat a little dog if not reminded) Join us at the GSD forum. She is a looker that is for sure :D Please keep us posted

I think I'm already on the GSD forum as AgilityPup...

I know she needs to be taken around, and if I had had her when she was younger, we would have, but now, this time of year, it's hard cause it's icey, and I'm worried she will pull me over... :p

She'll do agility - I hope... And she's still doing obedience once a week... with other dogs... and private lessons, if I can afford them.
