Cosequin or Glyco Flex?

Has anyone given their sheepies either Cosequin or Glyco Flex as supplements for their joints? I've been giving Drez a people glucosamine/chondroitin pill and it has helped, but someone told me about Glyco Flex. I checked it out at biovets.com and it looks pretty impressive. The vet mentioned that he sells Cosequin, although I could probably get it cheaper through the 'net. Any thoughts?

Hi My collie/shepherd...now waiting at the bridge...lived a GOOD life from age 10 to 17yrs. with the help of Cosequin, vit E & Rimadyl. I know there is lots of controversy about rimadyl BUT it worked for him...we did blood work often...he exercised everyday...hot & cold temp variations were tough on him...it was the right thing to do for Rusty! I have recently heard that Ester C works well for some puppers too! Good Luck...hope it helps!

I gave the Gluco/Chondroitin, Ester C, and Vitamin E (all non prescription - over the counter human products) to Brittney. I was always under the impression that the Cosequin / Glyco Flex were just fancy marketing of those products for Veterinary use???? What does the Cosequin and/or Glyco Flex have in it ?

I read about the Glyco Flex and thought that it sounded rather impressive too - but all those products always seem to promise much more than they actually deliver.

I have a friend who has a St. Bernard who has a hip problem similar to Drezzie's, only more severe. Barney is only 3 years old, and this problem was discovered when he was only 1 year old. They have no recourse with the breeder, because it was a backyard breeder.

It was this friend who told me about the Glyco Flex. She gives Barney the Glyco Flex II and says he seems much better since he's been taking it.

As for the Cosequin, our vet was the first who recommended it, saying that commercial (people) chondroitin/glucosamine may not be as potent because of all the additives. According to him, Cosequin is purer and more potent. Of course, he wanted to sell me the Cosequin, too.

Reading the info on biovets.com about both of the products, the Glyco Flex seems to have more ingredients on top of what Cosequin has. It's also cheaper. So just wondering if anyone's heard of or tried either or both?

I gave a 10 yr old pupper over the counter human grade glucosamine/chondroitin for over a year. I did some research & talked to several doctors & vets...decided to go with Cosequin because I was more certain that it contained the best grade & amount for the pupper. Health store supplements were not tightly regulated...this was in 1997!
I saw a big improvement in just a few weeks... :)
