Cathy and myself (Mark) picked Archie up on the 8th of December 2007, almost 4 months old (he'd been returned to the breeders because he nipped and wouldn't stay in his bed! - our luck I'd say) Well since then he has stamped his authority on our house (two cats noses thoroughly out of joint!) and made himself known in our smallish town in Dorset on his daily walks, how come a half hour walk turns into two hours (no it? isn't a Dulux dog, he's an Old English! yes he does have a tail ) I am not exactly sure who is taking who for a walk ( sometimes a Drag) Archies intrests - finding out what is two feet under the gravel in the back garden/yard! seeing just how long he can bark demandingly at us. Just how messy he can get his face! He loves cold biting wind, the rain especially lying down in it just outside the back door! oh and perpetual licking bouncing in anticipation for his food. We have been lucky so far damage wise, a few drawer knobs, a couple of magazines, yes he has the OES taste for paper, a pot of fish food, a few little mishaps the first week. He has a thing for face cloths (maybe he could learn to wash his mucky chops!) Since then he has been absolutely brilliant toilet training wise. A few notable skills He can have the top off a pop/soda bottle in a jiffy - he holds the top with his teeth and turns the bottle with his paws. Archie is my first dog - I always wanted an OES, people were -"ooh you should have started with a smaller dog! " - pardon?, no I made the right choice he is just over 6 months and shows remarkable intelligenge. All we need to do now is find someone locally for obedience training to show us what we are doing all wrong Mark ooops pictures can be seen of the pup here http://www.archiepup.fotopic.net |

The more the merrier! Archie sounds adorable! |
Archie can WOOF is way in here anytime! He sounds like a delightful pup and typically "sheepie." They are such clowns, you never know what they will do/destroy next. Fortunately, or unfortunately, they do mature (eventually) and the destruction disappears but they continually amuse us.
You survive a young sheepdog through laughter......something is first owner lacked. |
Hi and welcome, I'm so glad you got a sheepie and can't wait to hear more stories. Mine will be 7 and she still acts like a puppy she likes face clothes too. |
Woof back at ya from the land downunder |
Thank you for the welcome
As for UK based OES meets - I must admit to being a little on the naive side as to what goes on around the country, as to meeting up, if Archie got lose bouncy chaos would ensue! We also only have a saloon car so long distance for the Pup probably not a great idea, okay for the odd trip to the vet and Kennels when we are away. Plenty more fresh pictures can be had at www.archiepup.fotopic.net for those that can't get enough, he currently is a nice shade of green on his lower half, as the local council have cut the grass today |
welcome from fla what a cutie |
Welcome to the forum. Enjoyed reading about the adventures so far. Trust me there will be plenty more. My first dog as an adult was my sheepie (Obe), and I have no regrets. |
