I did just forward the link to my daughter though ROFLMAO!!! Mine would totally catch it - we did both meet at dog training classes, after all! But, I could send it to LeAnne, Keith is totally new to dogs and training.... |

I think it was the tone of voice when I offerred praise |
Judy Dutton has obviously read Karen Pryer's " Don't Shoot the Dog"...
That book is all about how to change behaviors of dolphins, dogs, family members, co-workers... Judy really understands the power of postive reinforcement... And I also get the response from hubby or kids..."Don't think that's going to work on me...I'm not a dog"... ...But not all the time.... |
I think Hubby would want to know why I was being so nice.
Still it's worth a shot. |
What a great article Dawn. I definitely think you should pass it onto Leanne for use on Keith...Will isn't a dog trainer but did minor in Psychology in college...I wonder how long it would take for him to pick up on the fact that I was trying to work my dog training skills out on him? Hmmm....
The funny thing is I used to use dog training techniques while I was student teaching. My cooperating teacher remarked one day on how easily I picked things up, she attributed it to my experience with training dogs! |

My cooperating teacher remarked one day on how easily I picked things up, she attributed it to my experience with training dogs! Let me know how it works on Will,. LeAnne thought it was funny - and might give it a try when the next opportunity presents itself... I had the same experience while on my internship in college (for my ag research degree). My supervisors at the research farm were amazed how quick I caught onto new skills. Between my dog training and livestock experience, it all seemed easy and normal to me! My college roommate had been at the same internship site the semester before me, and she had a much harder time.... |
