Many thnaks to Marianne for that chocolate cake and adopting my Norfolk pine and other plants. Thanks as well to neighbours Pauline and Frankie who were fantastic packers and kept my spirits up! I'll be so happy when the first leg of this new adventure is over! Cheers! PS: Once I get organized next week, there is a spring adventure story in the works with our heroes off on another quest. |

Hi Lynda!
You know that last pot I loaded in my van? The one that was full of good potting soil? That BIG one? Well I placed it on top of the box which had the mags you so graciously gave me as well. Almost home I turned the corner only to have the pot tip over and dump the soil all over me and my van! Oh groaners! Ah well, the van needs a good clean anyhow! Luckily the other pots with plants made it safely to my place. Thanks again! Hope you have a safe trip and give Merlin a nuzzle for me! Marianne |
Have a safe trip and I hope the move goes smoothly. |
Well, we made it! The last day with movers etc was very stressful: I hate moving and seem to do it all the time! The drive was fine: sunny and dry. Willoughby was OK in the back seat which he shared with a few small boxes and bags. Percy and Edwina meowed as a chorus until we passed the toll booth and they gave up!
We are in a local inn, part of a chain that accepts pets. We have a small bedroom, bathroom/kitchenette and living room and 2 TV's! The cats have the bedroom bathroom when I'm at work and Willoughby has the livingroom. I've been able to come back at noon to walk him. Unfortunately, I can't take him to work because of internal politics: but I'm only 5 minutes away. I've also made arrangements to move my horse to a ranch about 25 minutes away where older horses are welcome. It's quite well run with a wonderful view of the valley, mountains and the South Thompson River. Work so far is good: 2 days in! They have arranged a 2 week orientation to all the policies/procedures and introductions to staff and others. I have a beautiful office that overlooks the landscape and although I'll be busy, people are very nice and dedicated to their work and so I keep my fingers crossed. This is high mountain desert and I'm not used to the dryness or the wind but the scenery is spectacular. When I find my cable for the camera I'll post photos. Marianne: glad the stuff made it home with you! I never thought to offer you a plastic bag! I'll miss having you over to tea! |
Remarkable what the brain does: I forgot to add that on the way to pick up Willoughby and the cats at the kennel, my seat warmer caught fire! Luckily, I stopped for gas and found the cause of the severe heat at my back and the smell of plastic burning! I haven't had time to take the thing to the dealer's to see what can be done about it! I don't really feel safe in this car!:twitch: |
Glad you made it there okay!
Yikes about the seat warmer!!! |
Glad all is going well - except the part about your seat warmer! Yikes!
I hope you find your camera cable - the country up there sounds very interesting. |
Sorry about the seat warmer! Thank God you could pull off and take care of it. Your new city sounds so interesting I am looking forward to seeing pics. The Inn sounds great for temperary housing and I am happy all the pets made it ok. Good news that the job is working out ok so far.....cross fingers this will continue.
Take care and will be looking forward to your next update. |
Glad you made it and are enjoying (so far) your new job. I'm looking forward to pictures, too, since I'm having a difficult time imagining the high country desert in Canada. Sound spectacular, though. Can't wait to see it. |
Hi Lynda!
I was anxiously awaiting news from you! Glad you made it up there okay but that's horrible about your seat warmer. The roses you gave me are now covered with leaves (amazing how just a few days of sunshine and it feels like spring again!) I've also been lucky that my kitties have not decided the Pine Tree which sits in my hallway is a big kitty litter box! Yeah! Your new job sounds nice and that wonderful news regarding Merlin, your horse - you finally get to spend weekends with him again! Wishing you all the best! Marianne |
Welcome home and welcome back! |
Many thanks for all your good wishes! We've found a cemetery to walk in: not as large as the one we left but a good safe path with some shrubbery and trees. Willoughby is doing very well with new surroundings and is very brave: we found deer tracks and also saw a few noisy geese. More in due course! |
