What can I do to reduce shedding?

I know that sheepies are typically non-shedding (or little shedding dogs). I noticed that Rheba tends to shed more when she is getting long. She is about 5 inches or so. I really want to let her grow even more although my husband is frustrated by the hair and wants to get her shaved. Rheba's hair is quite thick and curly. I have been brushing her a lot and each time I get a small/medium handfull of hair.
Should I just shave Rheba down? I don't really realize that she is shedding unless I am wearing black pants and the occasional hair that gets stuck up my nose or on my lip. haha

Any recommendations?

Sheepdog are supposed to be minimal shedding animals.

My sheepdog sheds TERRIBLY. I gave up the fight and keep him clipped short. If you chose to let the hair grow you need a very good vacuume and to brush every day.
It's probably not shedding hair as much as it is dry hair kind of breaking off. Since everything is so dry this time of year, there isn't as much moisture in the coat and the hair snaps and drops off. Pick up a good spray conditioner that you can use while you line groom, like the Stuff and that should help. Only brush with the coat misted with something (even water) so the coat doesn't break more. I've been using more conditioner than usual when I brush because I can feel how much drier Clyde's coat feels. He never loses much hair but, even when I brush, I notice more hair than normal.

Winter ruins everything. :(
I know when my hair is long I notice it in my brush more
We sort of have "tumbleweed" floating along the kitchen and in the hall!!! from Summer.
My hair has got too long and I hate brushing it as I seem to lose loads. But according to hubby (used to be a hairdresser) it is just because I am losing long hairs and not short hairs!!
Do you think it would make a difference if I gave her fish oil that it would help her fur? She does get a little peanut butter in her food (I know she is spoiled!)
Give her some omega oils in her diet, it will help the coat and skin as well.

Fish oil is fine, I prefer "Cold Pressed Flax seed Oil" about a teaspoon in her meal once a day. Available at any health food shop and after opening keep it in the fridge, lasts a long time a bottle of it.

It will help.
